Processor (CPU)

The primary function of a mobile device's processing unit (CPU) is to interpret and execute instructions contained in software applications.

ARM Cortex-A53
Processor size

The size (in bits) of a processor is determined by the size (in bits) of the registers, address buses, and data buses. 64-bit processors have higher performance compared to 32-bit processors, which in turn are more powerful than 16-bit processors.

Level 0 cache (L0)

Some processors have L0 (level 0) cache, which is faster to access than L1, L2, L3, etc. The advantage of having such memory is not only higher performance, but also reduced power consumption.

4 kB + 4 kB (kilobytes)
Level 1 cache (L1)

Cache memory is used by the processor to reduce access time to more frequently used data and instructions. L1 (level 1) cache is small in size and works much faster than both system memory and other cache levels. If the processor does not find the requested data in L1, it continues to look for it in the L2 cache. On some processors, this search is performed simultaneously in L1 and L2.

16 kB + 16 kB (kilobytes)
Level 2 cache (L2)

L2 (level 2) cache is slower than L1 cache, but in return it has a higher capacity, allowing it to cache more data. It, like L1, is much faster than system memory (RAM). If the processor does not find the requested data in L2, it continues to look for it in the L3 cache (if available) or in RAM memory.

2048 kB (kilobytes)
2 MB (megabytes)
Number of processor cores

The processor core executes software instructions. There are processors with one, two or more cores. Having more cores increases performance by allowing multiple instructions to be executed in parallel.

Today in South Korea the official release of a new smartphone took place - Samsung Galaxy Grand Max (SM-G720). This model belongs to the average price niche and has technical parameters corresponding to the class. Speaking of design, there is no particular breakthrough here - classic Samsung design using high quality plastic. The general contours and front view correspond to the latest changes in the design of the manufacturer's new smartphones, while the rear location of the camera, flash and speaker is similar to that of the Galaxy S3 model. But the back cover has received a completely new texture - the diamond-shaped pattern along its entire surface looks pretty good, perhaps it will be a distinctive feature of this line. The phone turned out to be quite thin - only 7.9 mm thick.

Now is the time to look at the technical part of the Galaxy Grand Max. The smartphone received a 5.25-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. The hardware consists of a 4-core processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz, 1.5 gigabytes of RAM, and a 2500 mAh battery. The colorful color palette of the Galaxy Grand Max display pleases with its naturalness and does not hurt the eyes, as sometimes happens with SUPER/AMOLED from Samsung. The price of the Samsung Grand Max phone is very affordable, but the gadget has a very powerful and advanced 4-core central chip. The processor is assisted in various heavy applications by a video accelerator, which copes excellently with programs such as NOVA III, Vice-City, Dead-Space. 1.5 GB of RAM takes care of the Galaxy Grand Max's remarkable multitasking. The smartphone has built-in memory (16 GB), which can be expanded with microSD cards.

Review of Samsung GALAXY Grand Max

Hi all. The smartphone we are reviewing today was introduced at the very beginning of 2015 in South Korea and is called the Samsung Galaxy Grand Max. This device belongs to the middle price class and has technical characteristics corresponding to its segment.

Speaking about the design of the Grand Max, there is no particular breakthrough here - it is a classic Samsung form factor using high-quality plastic. The general contours and frontal appearance of the device corresponds to the latest changes in the form factor of the latest smartphones from the Korean manufacturer. The location of the camera, flash and speakers is similar to the Galaxy S3, but the rear panel of the smartphone has a completely new texture.

The diamond-shaped pattern across its entire plane looks pretty good, and perhaps it will be a distinctive feature of this line. Despite the name, the Galaxy Grand Max is very compact: 146x74.8x7.9 mm. The device weighs only 161 grams, and the body thickness is 7.9 mm. The appearance of the Grand Max is typical for Samsung, there is nothing new here either, judge for yourself...

GALAXY Grand Max runs on the Android v 4.4 platform with the ability to upgrade to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). One of the distinctive features of the gadget is a 5-megapixel front camera module with a wide-angle lens and 120-degree image capture. The camera supports voice control, while competitors already have models with 8 MP and similar performance, so the uniqueness of the Grand Max is in question. As for the main camera, it is also ordinary - a 13 megapixel matrix is used.

Well, now it’s time to disassemble the technical part of the device. The smartphone has a TFT screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The display diagonal is 5.25 inches. The smartphone is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) chipset at 1.2 GHz, which is supported by 1.5 GB of RAM (ARM), 16 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded with micro/SD memory cards. Galaxy Grand Max has a 2500 mAh battery and supports high-speed LTE networks.

Result:

As you can see, the set is standard for its class. The Grand Max is a more affordable alternative to the Galaxy A7 with slightly simplified specifications. The differences lie in a 4-core chip with a frequency of 1.2 GHz and 1.5 GB of RAM, so if you are looking for an inexpensive smartphone, but with a large display and from a global manufacturer, we recommend taking a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy Grand Max. That's all for now, subscribe to the new video and the latest news from the mobile world! Bye everyone.
