Alcatel 3C looks nice and moderately original, at least in blue color.

From the front, the smartphone looks faceless - it is an elongated screen that has already become typical. The Alcatel 3C cannot be called frameless, even with a stretch - there are frames on all sides and they are not the thinnest. There are no separate control buttons, only touch and on the screen. There is nothing else to note here, only the flash eye on the front camera, which looks quite unusual.

The back of the device looks more distinctive, mainly due to the concentric circles that radiate from the round fingerprint scanner. Here you can also note the camera lens with a light frame around the perimeter and the speaker holes.

The layout of the controls is typical - the volume rocker is on the right, and below it is the power key with a relief texture. On the left you can see the card tray. At the bottom there is a micro-USB 2.0 connector, and at the top there is a connector for .

The dimensions of the new product are 161x76x7.9 mm, weight - 169 grams. Not very thick, but quite heavy, it is noticeably inferior to more expensive ones, but not far behind, taking into account the difference in screen diagonals. Apparently, the case is plastic, but not collapsible, although this is not yet known for certain.

Alcatel 3C will be available in three colors: black, gold and blue.

Screen

Not much is known about the screen: the newfangled 18:9 format, IPS matrix and HD+ resolution (1440×720 pixels). For a 6-inch diagonal this is not much; the pixel density is 268 per inch. This means that up close you will see jaggies in the image. The manufacturer doesn’t say anything else about the device’s screen; most likely, there’s simply nothing, and it’s even a pity - after all, this is one of its main features.

Cameras

The Alcatel 3C is far from a camera phone - it uses fairly simple 8 and 5 MP cameras (with interpolation to 13 and 8 MP, respectively). These are modest resolutions, even for this level. Interpolation is not good, but it’s good that the manufacturer honestly admits it. Nothing else has been announced about the cameras, only autofocus for the main one and flash for both cameras at once.

Communications

The Alcatel 3C communications suite can be called frankly modest, even for a modern budget employee:

  • simple Wi-Fi b/g/n, with access point
  • 3G support
  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • A-GPS.

There is no information about FM radio, nor about LTE support. But, judging by the declared chipset, there is no LTE here, which today looks sad even for a cheap smartphone. It is stated that the Alcatel 3C has two slots for SIM cards, but it is not clear whether the memory card claims to be the second SIM card.

Battery

The manufacturer promises that the smartphone will last for a day of active use. This sounds plausible since the phone doesn't have the sharpest screen and poor performance. The battery capacity is not bad for a budget employee - 3000 mAh, it would not be surprising if the smartphone can work for two days. For comparison, the one has 3000 mAh, and the one has only a little more - 3340 mAh.

Performance

You can't expect high performance from Alcatel 3C. The phone uses an entry-level chipset - MT8321 (four cores at 1.3 GHz), which is also already stale, announced back in 2014. If this is not a mistake or a typo in the announcement, then this is still some kind of misunderstanding - by the standards of the mobile industry this is already a “last century”. This can be understood by such indirect signs as the lack of LTE support, and the fact that the chipset supports cameras with a resolution of only up to 8 MP. In 2018, this sounds simply crazy. Add 1 GB of RAM and get ready to go back a few years, when inexpensive Android smartphones slowed down and thought about almost every action.

Peculiarities

Alcatel 3C runs its own interface. The phone doesn’t have any special features, only a fashionable format screen and a concentric pattern on the back, which already makes it stand out among budget phones.

Memory

The permanent memory in the smartphone is not so little - 16 GB, but only one GB of RAM, which is very modest for 2018. They didn’t forget about the slot for microSD format (you can add up to 128 GB).

Price

Alcatel 3C sales are expected to start in the second quarter of 2018. In Italy it will be sold at a price of 129 euros or approximately 9,000 rubles. Similar prices can be expected in Russia.

Processor (CPU)

The primary function of a mobile device's processor (CPU) is to interpret and execute instructions contained in software applications.

ARM Cortex-A7
Processor size

The size (in bits) of a processor is determined by the size (in bits) of the registers, address buses, and data buses. 64-bit processors have higher performance compared to 32-bit processors, which in turn are more powerful than 16-bit processors.

ARMv7
Level 1 cache (L1)

Cache memory is used by the processor to reduce access time to more frequently used data and instructions. L1 (level 1) cache is small in size and works much faster than both system memory and other cache levels. If the processor does not find the requested data in L1, it continues to look for it in the L2 cache. On some processors, this search is performed simultaneously in L1 and L2.

32 kB + 32 kB (kilobytes)
Level 2 cache (L2)

L2 (level 2) cache is slower than L1 cache, but in return it has a higher capacity, allowing it to cache more data. It, like L1, is much faster than system memory (RAM). If the processor does not find the requested data in L2, it continues to look for it in the L3 cache (if available) or in RAM memory.

256 kB (kilobytes)
0.25 MB (megabytes)
Number of processor cores

The processor core executes software instructions. There are processors with one, two or more cores. Having more cores increases performance by allowing multiple instructions to be executed in parallel.
