Better than Galaxy S7 iPhone 6s.

In the very near future, Apple will present a new generation of the iPhone 7 smartphone, but for now the role of the flagship is played by the 6s model. Samsung recently revealed its new flagship Samsung Galaxy S7. These models are direct competitors, and therefore users often ask what to choose. We will talk about how the flagships differ and how they are similar.

Design and dimensions

The design of smartphones is completely different. If Samsung uses metal and glass, then the iPhone uses only metal. Although the use of glass cannot be called an ideal option, since fingerprints remain on it. But the Galaxy S7 is very beautiful and stylish. Can this be said about the 6S? The impression is spoiled by the strange protruding camera bezel and those stripes on the back. However, in iPhone 7 these unusual design elements will be changed. The rest is parity. As they say, it depends on the taste and color...

On the front, the models, although not very similar, are made in the same style - glass with a Home button. If the iPhone has a round one, then the Galaxy has a rectangular one. Interestingly, Samsung has an inscription of the same name under the speaker at the top of the case; the iPhone has nothing like that. Case colors are different.

Of course, the Galaxy S7 is larger, as it uses a 5.1-inch screen versus the iPhone's 4.7-inch. The difference is small - 2 mm in width and 4 mm in height. At the same time, the iPhone is slightly thinner - 7.1 mm versus 7.9 mm.

Display

The displays are excellent on both devices, despite the fact that the iPhone has a pixel density of only 326 ppi, while the Samsung has 576 ppi. Does this mean the pixels will be visible on the 6S? Well, if you just look carefully, then you can see something... In real life, you won’t see any pixels.

Samsung uses a SuperAMOLED screen, its colors are brighter; on the iPhone they are not so bright, but, let’s say, closer to “living” shades.

iPhone has 3D Touch technology. This is a technology that allows you to recognize the force of pressing the screen and thanks to this, opens up various settings for the user for a particular application. It seems that the technology was supposed to cause a sensation, but in reality there were no mass praise reviews. Just a new feature from Apple that almost no one has yet.

And of course, screen diagonal. We wrote above that for Samsung it is 5.1 inches, for iPhone it is 4.7 inches. What's better? It's up to you to decide: some people like a smaller screen, others a larger one.

Software

Samsung uses Android 6.0 with its own TouchWiz interface. Apple - iOS 9. Which of these firmware is better can be argued endlessly, and we won’t do that. Each of these firmwares has its fans, so there is no point in arguing. Let's just say that both firmware are good in their own way and work very quickly.

Hardware and performance

Galaxy S7 is more powerful. It uses 4GB of RAM and a Samsung Exynos 8890 processor, while the iPhone 6S has 2GB of RAM and an Apple A9 processor. But there is no point in looking at dry numbers, because in terms of operating speed, according to various tests, the iPhone is a little faster. This became possible thanks to the optimization carried out by Apple specialists. But the difference is small, that is, the Galaxy S7 also works very quickly, its system will not cause you any complaints.

It is also worth noting that both devices will have no problems launching applications; they should all work with maximum settings.

Camera

Numerous tests and reviews on the Internet prove that Samsung’s camera is definitely better, and many even call it the best on the smartphone market. The Sony IMX260 sensor is installed here, the resolution is 12 MP, the pixel size is 1.4 microns, and the lens aperture has increased to f/1.7. And with Samsung, the camera protrudes from the body by only 0.46 mm - a very good result.

Of course, the iPhone also has a very good camera, you can’t argue with that, but the Galaxy S7 is still better.

Battery

Samsung has a battery capacity of 3000 mAh, iPhone has 1715 mAh. Is the difference obvious? If you believe the reviews of various users, then the iPhone actually “lives” less in similar scenarios, but not by much. This may be due, among other things, to the fact that Samsung uses a screen with QHD resolution. However, both devices should be more than enough for daylight hours.

Price

The cost of an iPhone 6S 16Gb at the time of writing is about 41 thousand rubles. Samsung Galaxy S7 32Gb costs about 37 thousand rubles. The difference is small, but do not forget that Samsung is more modern and in many ways better, and even cheaper. But this is just our opinion. What to choose is up to you.

The release schedules for the Galaxy S and iPhone are strictly regulated at the highest level. If only because these are the two main competitors on the market. New this season Samsung Galaxy S7 is tearing up the market like it did in the fall iPhone 6s. The most popular flagships are literally asking to be compared.

The flagship from Samsung turned out to be interesting. The company has finally managed to reconcile the wealth of opportunities for its loyal fans with a redesign of the property. Everyone was a winner.

The iPhone 6S, like several of its predecessors, has changed little. But the new 3D Touch capabilities, 4K video-capable camera, and new chipset (finally 2GB of RAM) look good.

Obvious advantages of the Samsung Galaxy S7:

– IP68 certification allows submersion in water and protects against dust;

– large, always-on display (Always On function);

– automatic camera stabilization with the ability to shoot in low light conditions and autofocus;

– larger battery with fast and wireless charging;

– more initial internal memory plus MicroSD slot;

– heart rate sensor with SpO2; NFC and magnetic card emulation;

– there is an option for two SIM cards.

Advantages of Apple IPhone 6s:

– all-metal body;

– reversible USB connector (Lightning);

– more compact;

– faster fingerprint reader.

Apple's conservative approach to adding new features leaves its flagship always somewhat behind the cutting-edge technologies. At the same time, the Galaxy line and its latest representative, the S7, take everything that is technologically interesting and keep up with the times. Is this enough to make it the most popular 5-inch smartphone?

The Galaxy S6 was a bold move from Samsung. Getting rid of the MicroSD slot, no waterproofing, a protruding camera, a sealed battery... The company has abandoned all this again, and although the Galaxy S7 still has non-removable batteries, Samsung has turned everything else upside down.

Apple works differently. In relations between producers and consumers, this is a company that sets its own rules and does not follow the wishes of customers. Here's to deep 3D Touch capabilities, 4K video and live photos along with 2GB of RAM. Let's leave the rest as is. But who's to say that the phone hasn't become more advanced? Of course, it looks better than its predecessor. But only because he was also quite weak technically.

As for materials, the South Korean manufacturer used metal and glass, only in different proportions. Samsung chose a glossy finish. Its flagship sparkles, flaunts, declares itself. The American flagship looks like a poorly polished piece of metal. But only. However, it’s difficult to find fault with the design, because all its predecessors looked exactly the same.

Apple is not going to give its gadgets wireless or even fast charging. You will have to increase the load on the processor, change the battery, update the gadget, which is already selling well. Why complicate things?

Qualcomm I did everything possible to ensure that the Samsung flagship received fast wireless charging and just fast charging from a standard 5 V / 2 A adapter. That is, even wireless charging is fast.

At the same time, an anodized aluminum body turns out to be stronger in everyday use than glass, which over time collects scratches, dents, chips, and then cracks. Gorilla Glass 4 is not omnipotent.

Take S7 and put it in a glass of water. He continues to work calmly. IP68 certification allows it to survive in up to 1.5m of water for half an hour. Unlike the S5 predecessor, which also promised waterproofing, the new model doesn't require any unsightly flaps on any of its ports. It is isolated from the inside.

Another major advantage over the iPhone is larger storage space - the Galaxy S7 starts at 32GB versus 16GB. And you can use MicroSD to add up to 200GB more. While the most expensive iPhone 6s will offer a maximum of 128 GB of memory.

The camera on the S6 protruded significantly. It doesn't stick out on the Galaxy S7. On iPhone 6s it performs. The winner in design is the Samsung Galaxy S7. The competitor's aluminum body is, of course, more practical, but does not contain protection against accidental water damage. This alone is enough to ensure victory for Samsung's flagship.

The display is also better on Samsung.

The company successfully uses AMOLED screens. Bright, beautiful, with stunning color reproduction and a resolution of 1440 by 2560 pixels, they look much more beautiful than their competitor with its IPS screen with a resolution that no other flagship of its competitors can afford - 750 by 1334 pixels.

Let's add here that Super AMOLED on the Galaxy S7 has an Always On function. Part of the screen is always on, highlighting the date, time and messages without wasting much battery power. The smartphone uses 1% of the battery per hour, but you see missed calls and messages. Unfortunately, no other notifications are displayed. For example, WhatsApp, Facebook or others.

With 540 nits of brightness, 1500:1 contrast ratio, and 577 pixel density per inch, Samsung is clearly in the lead. Also, the user is more interested in a larger 5.1-inch screen.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 also wins in terms of battery life. The flagship has a huge advantage in battery capacity - 3000 mAh, which has 75% more milliamps in the tank than the iPhone 6c's 1715 mAh battery.

The Endurance rating, however, is not as different as the battery capacity suggests. Galaxy S7 shows 80 hours in the program without recharging - work for three days. And Apple's flagship will last up to 62 hours. But if you plan to use the S7's Always On feature, you should be prepared to charge it more often—the Endurance rating drops to 49 hours. But since the Galaxy S7 is packed with Quick Charge 3.0, it can fully charge from 0 to 100 percent in 90 minutes. The competitor will require much more time.

Apple and Samsung users view the world differently. The typical Galaxy S buyer looks at the smartphone's specs page. And Apple iPhone 6s buyers trust the device by inertia, as a brand that has been on the market for a long time. At equal prices, this trend is unlikely to change.

I often receive emails with questions about which phone to buy. Perhaps the most common comparison is the iPhone versus the Galaxy; sometimes the Galaxy is replaced by some flagships from Sony, HTC, and almost never from the Chinese. There is a second group of letters, a comparison of famous Chinese with unknown, but cheaper ones. In these letters, the very formulation of the question in one or two sentences does not provide for any sensible answer; it is simply impossible without knowledge of people, their lifestyle and preferences. When I name this or that model in response, I have a chance of guessing or missing. In the first case, the person will be satisfied with the phone, in the second he will scold me for the wrong choice. But in any case, this is a guessing game in which there is no information about a person’s preferences, his lifestyle, which is important. This material is an attempt to explain the strengths and weaknesses of each model, but leave the choice up to you. Many people are frightened by the very possibility of choice and want to receive a “Buyer’s Guide”, which clearly says: go and buy such and such a device, because it is better and scored so many points in our test, review, comparison. Unfortunately, this approach is inherently flawed and does not allow you to make the right choice; you simply delegate this choice to a stranger who knows nothing about you. Our approach is completely different, we want to describe what can be valuable and useful to you in life, which can influence your choices. But we leave the choice up to you.

After such a long introduction, it’s time to move on to the debriefing.

Why compare iPhone 6s and Galaxy S7/S7 EDGE

Flagship buyers are a separate caste, people who buy the very best device, although their reasons for this may be radically different. Someone chooses a flagship for the opportunity not to change the phone for a couple of years, that is, for a long life cycle. Someone wants to get the fastest device, including virtual parrots, and not real performance. Someone has the task of buying the most fashionable, fashionable device. The reasons are different for everyone, but two brands always make the short list – iPhone and Galaxy. All other alternatives are considered by people as insignificant, which is proven by the volume of their sales, it is minimal and differs by orders of magnitude to the lower side.

It would probably be correct to consider comparing the iPhone 6s and Galaxy S7, since the form factor of these devices is the same, the screen diagonal is close and the characteristics are the same. But based on the cost of the iPhone, the direct competitor to the younger iPhone 6S 16 GB is the Galaxy S7 EDGE. A funny situation arises when two Galaxy models are competing against the iPhone 6s, while the same 6s Plus stands on the outskirts, let down by the high price and the fact that Apple’s idea of phablets did not take off, sales turned out to be small.

In terms of prices, the official Apple store sells iPhone 6s from 56,990 rubles, while the company's partners have prices starting from 51 thousand rubles.

The official price for the Galaxy S7 32 GB is 49,990 rubles, most partners accept this offer. On the gray market, prices range from 36-40 thousand rubles, but these are models intended for other countries. By purchasing such devices, you will void the warranty.

The price for the Galaxy S7 EDGE is 59,990 rubles in official deliveries, partners also maintain this cost (that’s why I compare it with the official Apple Store prices, the difference of three thousand rubles is minimal in this segment). On the gray market, prices range from 47 to 55 thousand rubles, these are also models intended for other countries.

It would not be amiss to note that when you purchase a Galaxy S7/S7 EDGE at Samsung branded retail stores, you are given Gear VR glasses as a gift (the promotion is constantly extended until the end of August), and at branded retail stores you can also buy an extended warranty for the screen, according to which you They will replace your broken phone screen for free, regardless of your fault. The cost of such insurance is 4,990 rubles. There are no proprietary display replacement programs with the iPhone (this is a complete phone replacement or unauthorized repair), and no additional accessories are offered.

With prices in mind, let's take a look at what you get with these flagships and what you can expect.

Design, case materials, protective functions

Very often I come across a superficial comparison of flagships, which states that they are all made of metal and glass, and then comes the “obvious” conclusion that they are all the same. It's kind of like saying that the aircraft aluminum is the same as the stainless steel in your teaspoons, since both are metals. Each material has its own characteristics, properties and capabilities.

The iPhone uses tempered mineral glass, but not Corning Gorilla Glass, as many periodically try to write. You won't see Apple among those using this glass, the full list can be found.

Unfortunately, the glass on the iPhone was and remains fragile; when dropped onto asphalt from waist height, it usually cracks. This is the weakest point in the phone’s design and at the same time the most popular option in unofficial service centers, replacing the screen in ten minutes.

Seryozha Kuzmin was faced with the fact that in Russia, Apple service centers do not replace the screen separately, as in other countries, but only the entire device. There was even a whole article about this, you can read it at the link.

Over the past year, the situation has not changed at all; Apple promises to supply separate displays in some distant future. The company has already lost several cases with consumers who have proven legally that they were forced to pay more for screen replacements than they should have. But I’m sure that most people are interested in something completely different, how to fix their device if it falls without much hassle and big expenses. Therefore, with broken iPhones, go to unofficial services, of which there are a huge number throughout the country. They live only on broken iPhones, this is by no means an exaggeration.

With the Galaxy, the situation is the opposite - it can also be dropped unsuccessfully, and it will break. But my experience suggests that even after a dozen falls onto the asphalt from waist height, no serious damage appears; Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is the glass that has the maximum protection among anything on the market. Perhaps this is the best product among analogues.

At one time they even recorded a video about how the Galaxy S6 EDGE survives falls; it has exactly the same glass.

Now about how some users perceive the words that Gorilla Glass 4 provides the best protection. For some reason, these words are transformed into the perception that this protection is absolute and no scratches can appear on the screen, even theoretically. This is far from true. If you wish and have some bad luck, the screen can be scratched with metal, a drill, or anything else. In real life, scratches almost never appear on the screen, or they are small, unnoticeable and do not in any way affect the life of the device.

Look, in six months, scratches appeared on the top of the screen on my S7 EDGE, while I carry it with keys, small change, and often throw it in my pocket with other phones. Scratches are only visible if you look closely. Most of those who complain about scratches have even smaller scratches on their screen. This is akin to people who, at the slightest mark on the bumper, rush to the insurance company to have it painted, or better yet, the bumper replaced. Small scratches on the iPhone screen appear much faster; Apple also provides devices with protective glass glued to the screen to avoid discussions of scratches.

Let's focus on the next point - protection from water. The Galaxy S7/S7 EDGE has full IP68 protection, which means the phone can withstand not only splashes, it can be dropped into water, and at a depth of up to a meter it will survive for several tens of minutes. But in real scenarios, when the phone is dropped and it is in the water for at most a couple of tens of seconds, this is not a problem at all. Unfortunately, the iPhone 6s does not have any protection against water; if the device falls into the bathtub or toilet, it is highly likely to end its life.

The case of all the models under consideration is made of a special alloy of the 7000 series, there is complete parity. It does not scratch easily and is resistant to external influences.

Another important point. The fingerprint sensor in the iPhone is covered with sapphire glass and does not wear out in any way, it remains exactly the same as on the first day. But the sensor on Samsung wears out very quickly, the button is worn and untidy.

Perhaps this is the only serious complaint about the way Samsung looks externally; the button is its weak point.

A few words about EDGE. Externally, this device has no analogues from other manufacturers; it looks unusual and quite fresh. The image component of this model is maximum. Another thing is that the ergonomics of the curved screen suffers somewhat; there are erroneous presses. Although on the side there are also menus that expand functionality. The question here is how you want your device to look.

Screen and its capabilities – is bigger better?

In the hand, the iPhone 6s fits exactly the same as the Galaxy S7; their dimensions are almost exactly the same. But at the same time, the S7 has a screen diagonal of 5.1 inches, while the iPhone has 4.7 inches. Very often, iPhone fans say that a large screen diagonal is not needed and that all this is nonsense. In fact, when you get a larger screen in exactly the same size body, it's nice.

The screen resolution of the iPhone 6s is 1334x750 pixels, which is actually something intermediate between FullHD and just HD. Due to the quality of the IPS matrix, font optimization, and backlight brightness, the picture on the iPhone almost always looks great. And this means that it will suit most consumers. Not long ago it became possible to change font sizes in iOS, which, frankly, was missing. The feature isn't as well implemented as on Android, but at least it's there.

Now let's look at the S7's 5.1-inch screen. It has QHD resolution, 576 ppi versus 326 ppi in the iPhone. This does not mean that the picture is twice as good, but it looks no worse, and the higher resolution allows you to comfortably use the phone with virtual reality glasses, while Apple consistently ignores the VR topic.

But for the majority, all these virtual glasses are not needed; we use phones for calls, browsing the Internet and the like. In this aspect, if we ignore the “little things”, it turns out that the IPS matrix in the iPhone and the SuperAMOLED screen in Samsung are approximately the same; when you take them out of the box indoors, you will not see much of a difference, they are good displays.

In practice, the S7/S7 EDGE implements several modes that distinguish these devices on the market, and also accurately show the difference with the iPhone. Let's start with the AlwaysOn Display mode, without which I can no longer imagine a phone.

Usually the smartphone screen is always turned off, it saves energy. Using a SuperAMOLED screen allows you to display information on the screen constantly and not be afraid that the battery will suddenly run out. I always have the clock on my screen, so I don't have to turn on the display to see the time. Information about messages and missed calls is also shown.

And this is a thing that is clear, simple, and after a while you understand that other phones without it become inconvenient for you. This is not some kind of marketing gimmick, but a very real and useful feature.

Another thing is that the screen brightness is automatically adjusted to your and only your preferences (the brightness of the backlight is adjusted in the first two weeks, taking into account your choice). Not a single phone has fine-tuning for a specific user, but here this option has appeared, and it is very pleasing.

And finally, I will note what is important to me. In bright sunlight, the S7's screen can produce about twice the brightness of the iPhone (automatic adjustment must be active). And this allows you to see exactly what you, for example, photograph, and not a pale copy of the picture.

The bottom line is that the iPhone has a good display, you will not be disappointed in it and will be satisfied. But it’s difficult to call it modern; neither the resolution nor the additional settings give away the fact that it’s 2016. While in the S7 the screen has both excellent basic characteristics and a bunch of additional ones, which, however, you don’t have to go into. By the way, DisplayMates called the S7/S7 EDGE screens the best on the market, while the iPhone 6s is noticeably behind them. But, I repeat, for most this difference will not be noticeable; quite conditionally, we can assume that there is parity between the devices. It's just that in one case you get a blank screen with a good picture and the inability to change anything for yourself, display information on the screen around the clock in standby mode, in the second - the best engineering solution that can be customized to the preferences of any person, it is simply more flexible and giving more room for maneuver.

Camera

How many angry words have been said about which smartphone has the best or worst camera, how many pictures have been taken and presented as evidence. But all this, by and large, does not matter, and here’s why. People change their phones every two to three years, if we're talking about flagships. And in this time period, the new flagships give a noticeable change in the picture, the cameras begin to shoot better.

For example, speaking about the iPhone 6s and Galaxy S7, I can say that the front camera definitely wins on the Galaxy, it is faster, there is software for leveling out skin imperfections, the photos come out more vibrant. But with regard to the main camera, the situation is repeated, as for screens. In point-and-shoot mode, both phones have comparable capabilities; for the average person, they will provide a high-quality, beautiful picture. You can argue for a long time about what and who likes it, but for the majority these devices will be equivalent.

Another thing is that if you get into the details, it turns out that on the Galaxy you can adjust almost any parameters, change the tone of the picture, use phase autofocus, like on “adult” cameras, and do much more. This is not just a tool that is severely limited in its capabilities. Here the camera is a simple tool for both everyday photography and more complex shots. The choice is always yours; if you want to shoot automatically, then shoot. If you want to get the most out of the frame, all the possibilities and settings are in your hands.

Just for comparison, I’ll give you pictures from two phones; in my opinion, they are about the same level. Some things are better in one case, some in another. But the percentage of good and beautiful pictures produced on Samsung is noticeably higher.

Examples of photos on Apple iPhone 6s:

Battery

It is impossible to directly compare the operating time of devices; you can only estimate how long they will last in the same tasks under more or less similar conditions. There are no miracles here, and the iPhone lasts a little less time compared to the same S7. But most of the scenarios for its use are very different, for example, people do not use maximum backlight, limit application synchronization. As a result, the iPhone 6s can show close operating time, up to one daylight hours.

One of the big advantages of the S7 is fast charging; it allows you to get a quarter of the battery charge in ten minutes, which is very good. Built-in wireless charging makes it possible to recharge your phone in cafes and other places without any wires. Here again we see the superior engineering solutions in the Galaxy over the iPhone. There is simply nothing like this in the iPhone 6s; the manufacturer saved money on this too.

Performance and Stereotypes

It is well known that the iPhone, or any iPhone, does not slow down, but Samsung with TouchWiz is a set of jambs and brakes. Unfortunately, with each version of iOS, the quality of software on the iPhone leaves much to be desired, but TouchWiz, on the contrary, has gotten rid of old problems and works stably and quickly. Both systems are approximately the same in perception; an ordinary person without a stopwatch in his hands will not see any difference. Fans will foam at the mouth to prove that their phone opens the application faster, and will even accurately say the difference, which will be a fraction of a second. But you just need to look at how these devices work with your friends or in stores to form your opinion - how fast they are for you and whether they need to be made faster, and most importantly, why.

Storage space for your files

I’ll throw up my hands - Apple saved a lot on memory; the standard version of the smartphone comes with 16 GB of memory, which is very little if you not only make calls on the phone, but also take photographs, listen to music and perform other usual actions. Samsung has twice as much memory - 32 GB, but it is also possible to install a memory card, and the cards themselves can be anything, the main thing is that they are inexpensive. If you don’t want to install a memory card, you can install a second SIM card; this feature has never been available on the iPhone.

Ecosystem from Samsung and Apple

Another stereotype that haunts people’s minds from year to year is that Apple has a developed ecosystem, but Samsung does not. Of course, this is not true, and you can start with simple things, namely phone accessories. You can purchase an Apple Watch for your iPhone, and there are essentially two versions of these watches, while the Gear Fit and Gear S come in different versions to suit every taste and budget.

The number of interesting and unusual accessories for the Galaxy line exceeds anything that Apple has ever created. They just have a different strategy, the company believes that accessories should be produced by partners, they say, this is not the royal business. As a result, it turned out that today Samsung sets the tone in the market, releasing entire lines of devices, many of which become pioneers in their segments, just remember the Gear VR or IconX headphones.

It is clear that not everyone needs this; some people only use their phone and do not try anything new. And that's okay. But for those who are not used to limiting themselves in possibilities, it is Galaxy that gives the maximum - both qualitatively and quantitatively.

Now let's say a few words about the ecosystem in terms of applications. Android has long had all the applications familiar from the iPhone, moreover, now applications are coming to Android faster, with rare exceptions. And, besides, the cost of applications on Android is lower, and often they are completely free. If you wish, you can find examples of games or utilities that are available on one system but not on another, but why? For the average user, both iOS and Android are the same. Moreover, Apple has given in to the onslaught of the popularity of Android and is adapting its services for this platform. Want Apple Music? Use the service on Android, it is available under exactly the same conditions.

Short afterword

For my taste, the iPhone still has an image component, but it is not as strong as before. Moreover, the product itself is somewhat boring to the target audience; it does not surprise anyone. This is a good smartphone, which has only the essentials and nothing more. It is not fully charged like the Galaxy S7/S7 EDGE. In fact, for comparable money in Galaxy you get the best engineering solutions, which, moreover, help you use the devices in practice. Nevertheless, these devices seem to me to be equivalent in many ways; some choose the iPhone, others choose the Galaxy. Someone listens to the voice of reason and believes that there is no point in paying more for a smaller screen diagonal, worse resolution, lack of fast charging and many other “little things”. And someone simply knows that the image charge of the iPhone in their environment is much higher, and wants to be like everyone else. Every choice must be respected as it is the choice of people and a reflection of their lifestyle. There cannot be anything right or wrong here; people choose what they consider to be true for themselves.

My choice is the Galaxy line, but this does not mean that you should choose exactly the same thing. And this is the best thing in our lives, that we are so different - some are rational in their choices, others are emotional. The main thing is that when choosing between these two products, you should end up with good emotions and please yourself. When buying devices of this class, you should always expect the positive. Enjoy the shopping. And read detailed reviews of each device to make the right choice if the above thoughts are not enough for you.

Just last week, Apple introduced its new flagships – iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Smartphones are already on sale in full in the United States and ten other countries, and pre-orders have just started in Russia. The average buyer will be wondering why it is necessary to buy the new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, and not any other smartphone. This comparison pits four devices against each other: iPhone 7 vs. Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7 Plus vs. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge came out a little earlier than Apple devices. Many people praise their high-quality Amoled displays, long battery life and good cameras. So what happens if you compare gadgets from Apple and Samsung according to every available criterion? See below.

Both smartphones have water and dust resistance and are approximately the same: Apple has an IP67 standard, while Samsung has an IP68 standard. Samsung hit store shelves in March of last year and immediately attracted the attention of potential consumers. It should be said that the popularity of the iPhone 6S was immediately under threat, because the smartphone from the Korean manufacturer, according to many, is in no way inferior to the Apple gadget, and in some ways, perhaps even superior to it. A comparative review of both models will show which is better – Galaxy or iPhone 6.

Why were these particular smartphones chosen for analysis? The fact is that they are the main competitors in their market niche. The Korean phone runs on the Android operating system, the American device runs on the unique iOS. Both gadgets are famous for their high performance, hardware features and cameras. But, still, which of them is better? We hope our review will help you make the right choice.

Comparison of iPhone 6S and Samsung Galaxy S7: appearance

In iPhone 6, the manufacturer left the same design. Apple, as a follower of conservative traditions, only sometimes changes the appearance of its products, making minor changes. This approach is to the taste of many iPhone owners, because there is no need to get used to the new design when purchasing another device. Also, there is no problem of finding the location of a particular button on the device.

The iPhone 6S series is almost identical in appearance to previous Apple phone models.

As for the Galaxy, the sixth model is very different in design from its closest predecessor, the Galaxy 5. The latter looked very budget-friendly, and its cost was quite high. In the six, on the contrary, the price-quality ratio is simply ideal. The gadget looks stylish and expensive.

It’s worth saying a few words about the 7th model of the Samsung Galaxy, which is superior in appearance to the 6th. This smartphone is decorated with panels with protective glass. The body is neat, the lines are smooth and smooth.

Of course, design is a matter of taste. But 100%, both compared versions of mobile devices look decent. The case material for both is plastic. And in comparison with other smartphones of the same price category presented on the modern market, they clearly win. In addition, they are quite miniature. And if the size of these phones seems too small to someone, it is better to choose the iPhone 6S Plus and Samsung GALAXY S7 Edge. If you compare the Galaxy S7 Edge VS iPhone 6S, you can see with the naked eye that the display of the former is larger and more convenient.

iPhone 6s vs Samsung GALAXY S7: screens

Screen quality is one of the most important characteristics of any smartphone, because the user almost always works with a picture, so the image must be clear and rich in color. The latest models of Korean phones were equipped with Super AMOLED displays with a resolution of 1440x2560. Such an indicator as the pixel density in the seventh iPhone exceeded 500 ppi.

According to the above characteristics, the Samsung device has a clear lead, since the iPhone Six display resolution is only 750x1334, and the pixel density is just over 300 ppi.

But are these “dry” technical data really that important? For the average user, they are unlikely to matter; for him, the purity of the picture is important. And at a superficial glance, the iPhone screen looks great. There are no visible pixels, the color gamut is excellent, and it does not change when you change the viewing angle.

But it should be taken into account that the “Korean” display is slightly larger in size, but this superiority is insignificant, because the difference is only 0.4 inches. Therefore, a higher resolution for such a screen is simply a necessity. But this fact also causes increased energy consumption.

However, the image on the Galaxy screen looks more impressive than on the iPhone 6 S. But the latter also has an advantage - the presence of 3D Touch technology. It was assumed that such technology would be introduced in the seventh version of the Korean device, but these expectations were not met.

iPhone 6s vs Samsung GALAXY S7: operating system

Galaxy operates on the sixth android. It differs slightly from the previous version of the Lollipop operating system. The only important thing is the addition of the Doze function, which gives the phone more independence. Google Now on Tap technology was also added, which was not present in the previous version of the gadget.

iPhone 6s vs Samsung GALAXY S7: performance

The iPhone six version S became the first Apple device with a phenomenal amount of memory of 2 gigabytes. Previous models, produced with 1 gigabyte of memory, still enjoyed continued success among consumers. By the way, for Android devices a memory capacity of 3 or even 4 gigabytes is considered normal. But this is more of an anti-compliment than a positive feature, because energy consumption at such indicators is clearly very high.

Two gigabytes in the iPhone 6 is, according to many users, the optimal amount of memory, for which honor and praise to the developers. Coupled with the A9 processor and a more advanced operating system, the device’s performance is quite high, and all this with normal power consumption.

But the Galaxy smartphone is not lagging behind in this indicator and is striving to become a leader among Android phones. Without a doubt, this is a very powerful device. If you compare the performance of the iPhone Six and the Korean smartphone, most likely the first will be left far behind. But this comparison can hardly be called appropriate, and the results of such testing cannot be considered objective, because phones run on different operating systems. The same goes for the Note 7 VS iPhone 6S Plus comparison.

iPhone 6s vs Samsung GALAXY S7: cameras

In terms of the number of megapixels, if we compare the cameras of both models, the “Korean” clearly loses to the “American”. The main camera of the Samsung 7 has 12 megapixels, while the iPhone 6S has 16. But here the manufacturer of the Korean device makes a reservation that the rear camera of the gadget has 2 pixels, so the resolution of the finished photo is actually 24 MP. According to the experience of testing the Samsung Galaxy, it focuses much faster than the iPhone.

The iPhone 6 camera is based on digital technology, but it does not have optical stabilization or dual technologies, like its main competitor.

In terms of aperture, the American smartphone was ahead of the sixth version of the Galaxy. Without going deeply into the technical specifications, we note that this means that the iPhone camera can transmit much more light rays than a similar element on a Samsung phone. For the same reason, photographs taken in low light appear more detailed on the Galaxy.

The Samsung 7 camera is f/1.7, which means that even more light falls on the matrix – by 50% or more.

Samsung Galaxy S7 VS iPhone 6S comparison: autonomy

This characteristic does not suit either device, because... the indicators are very weak. Both gadgets work for no more than 2 days without recharging, after which the charge level becomes critical. Although the Korean smartphone has a larger battery capacity, according to tests, its battery life is the same as that of the iPhone 6S. By the way, the battery capacity of the latter, compared to a simple six, was reduced.

Why such identical results with different battery characteristics? But the thing is that the hardware of the devices in question is also different, and the level of charge retention is influenced by other factors, not just the battery capacity.

The same can be said about Note 7 VS iPhone 6S Plus.

Here we immediately remember the “miracle” of technology from the early 2000s - an indestructible gadget from Philips that held a charge for a month or more. Well, for 2016, the result of work in 2 days is quite good, and 3 days is excellent.

IPhone 6S vs Samsung Galaxy S7: cost and results

It's no secret that most of those who have chosen an iPhone buy it more for its status than for its functionality. Although the functions of this device have always been varied. Therefore, even with the higher quality of another mobile gadget, a number of consumers will prefer a device from Apple.

Prices for iPhone 6S VS Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, of course, vary. The cost of the latter is significantly less. At the same time, the memory in the first phone is 2 times more.

But price is not the only advantage of the “Korean”. For example, among its obvious advantages are the presence of an offline mode and high performance - higher than that of an iPhone. In this regard, for those who are not in a hurry, you can wait a little until the price of this device drops and purchase it.

The average price for an iPhone 6 in Russia is about 70,000 rubles. And for Samsung S7 – 50,000 rubles. Agree, the difference is quite significant. But the final choice - Samsung Galaxy S7 or iPhone 6S, of course, is up to the individual consumer, who can decide what is best for him.
