Hello. I bring to your attention a review of the UWatch PS-101 smartwatch.
I’ll say right away that the watch is quite good for its price, because... have a metal case, mineral glass, moderate consumption (the battery lasted as much as 5 days). In addition to standard functions (alarm clock, pedometer, stopwatch), there are also quite non-standard ones, for example, a learning IR remote control.
But of course there are also disadvantages.
I will try to tell you everything in detail.
If you are interested, please...

Packaging and accessories:
The watch arrived in a cylindrical box made of thick cardboard.
In the following configuration:
- watch;
- USB charging cable;
- instructions in Chinese and English;
- 2 QC coupons.

Smartwatch:
The watch case is made of aluminum alloy. Glass - mineral. The strap feels silicone. The back of the case is plastic. On the left side of the case there is a single button that combines the functions of on/off, as well as returning to the screen with the clock. Next to the button there is a USB socket, closed with a silicone plug. On the right side of the case there is an IR transceiver window and a speaker hole. There is a microphone hole at the top under the almost round screen.

The dimensions of the watch are quite compact: 53x40x11 mm. Weight 52 gr.

Disassembly:
To disassemble the watch case, you need to unscrew 4 screws from the back and pry off the plastic cover.

The BlueTooth antenna is glued to the plastic cover, the signal is transmitted through spring-loaded contacts built into the strap. Strange design.

Exploitation:
The watch is compatible with both IOS and Android smartphones. For the first, you need to install the “Smartblue” application, for the second, “Smartwatch.apk”. The latest application can be installed either using the QR code from the instructions, or via the link: www.myuwatch/Smart-Watch.apk.
Here's what the Android app looks like:

After installing the application, synchronization with the clock did not cause any problems.
The clock home screen is available in 2 options: digital or analog clock.

The menu consists of 3 screens with icons. Called by "slide" to the left.

There are 23 graphs in total:

Let me briefly go through the menu items:
- Bluetooth: connecting to a phone, setting the device name;
- dialer: you can dial a number and call;
- notifications: view active notifications;
- front/rear cameras: turn on the front/rear camera of the phone, view the image on the watch, take photographs;
- stopwatch: I think everything is clear;
- BT music: control your phone's music player;
- Messages: view incoming and outgoing messages;
- Phonebook: view contacts and call (it takes some time to synchronize contacts for the first time after connecting);
- Call log: also does not need comments;
- Incoming call: select a ringtone for an incoming call;
- pedometer: pedometer settings (weight, step, clearing log);
- compass: it works strangely, the instructions say that you need to calibrate, but I couldn’t find the calibration mode;
- Clock type: select “home screen” analog clock or digital;
- Settings: changing the operating time of the clock backlight, selecting units of measurement;
- sleep monitor: view sleep phases;
- Energy saving: changing the brightness of the backlight;
- Anti lost: enable a reminder when you lose connection with your phone;
- Alarm clock: set up to 4 alarms;
- Sedentary reminder: enable/change the reminder time period in a “sitting” position;
- Remote Controller: IR remote control. First, you need to train the watch using the standard remote control. I tried to teach using the remotes of different devices (TV, media player, AV receiver, etc.), and I learned it the first time.
- Find phone: search for a phone (turn on the ringer on the phone);
- Language: select a language.
We're done with the menu.
This is what the watch looks like on your hand:

When there is an incoming call, the following window appears on the watch with the caller's number:

If you first go to the watch menu and synchronize contacts, then instead of a number a contact will be displayed, but the Cyrillic alphabet is not supported, “squares” are displayed instead.
The watch works like a BT headset, i.e. If you “pick up the phone” on the watch, you can talk through it, the quality is quite acceptable. This is very convenient, for example, when talking while driving.
You can also note the fairly good battery life. The watch worked for 5 days without recharging. This is a pretty good indicator.
Among the minuses, we can note incomplete support for the Cyrillic alphabet, the inability to change the appearance of the menu and clock (except for 2 preset ones), a non-replaceable strap, and strange operation of the compass.

P.S. Coupon for 20% discount: CNOFF

Advantages: Availability of a camera, built-in microphone and speaker, acceptable power consumption (a full charge is enough for two to three days), size and weight (not too big for a man’s hand, sits comfortably on the hand, does not pull the hand away). The price is 7 thousand rubles. I consider it adequate for such functionality. Disadvantages: 1. The watch turned out to be not waterproof at all! Last weekend I had the opportunity to wet my hands in a pond for 10...15 minutes. It was to wet my hands, and not to swim - I washed the sides of the boat (air temperature about 30ºC, water temperature about 20ºC). So, on Monday I noticed that the clock did not work, and condensation was visible in the camera window. I opened the watch and found drops of water and condensation in some places. I dried it, charged it, turned it on, everything worked except the gyroscope. He seems to have died, because... The watch screen stopped turning on with the appropriate gesture (the settings are set correctly). I'll try to get it repaired under warranty and see how the service responds. But in general, Samsung’s approach to watch waterproofing seems strange to me. 2. Weak maximum vibration level for notifications – notifications are not always felt. 3. Soft case materials (screen glass, camera glass, case metal and buttons). I'm a pretty careful user, but I got scratches on the screen glass, on the watch case, on the button and on the camera glass, after just a few months of using the watch! Why do I need a device that I constantly have to shake over, either so as not to pour water on it, or so that, God forbid, it doesn’t catch some object?! 4. The strap clasp quickly wore out (literally, after a couple of months of use) and no longer held securely in the fastened position. I had to fiddle with bending the hook of the fastener. 5. The interface is not ergonomic and does not have a great design. For example, there is no way to sort contacts by last name, the screen with a clock could contain much more useful information and shortcuts, and it could be designed much nicer, four shortcuts per screen are not enough, sequentially flipping through screens to get to the desired application is inconvenient. In my opinion, this does not contribute to the good image of Samsung as a company that offers users modern, sophisticated and complete products. Comment: 6. There is little software on Tizen, the software is being improved very slowly by the developers, some (even paid) software is generally crooked and does not improve at all. 7. The watch sometimes glitches (for example, the screen constantly turns on spontaneously, which leads to rapid battery drain). I assume that this may be caused by third-party software, but Samsung must somehow test applications that appear in the watch market. 8. Charging the battery is not organized in the best way; it gets annoying to attach, unhook and carry the charging bracket with you. Was it really impossible to make a stainless micro-usb connector (to charge the watch with a regular micro-usb cable, which is now in abundance) or at least wireless charging? 9. The watch supports a very limited number of phone models. 10. Heart rate monitor. Why is he here with such poor measurement reliability?! Measures the pulse on the first try only if the hand is completely motionless (which can only be achieved while sitting, in a calm state and almost without breathing). 11. The screen is too small. If the screen occupied the entire flat front side of the watch, it would be much better. 12. The glass of the screen has rounded edges; accordingly, it is not completely flat, which makes it impossible to stick a protective film. 13. Just now I noticed that the glass of the screen is movable relative to the watch case: if you press it (on the glass) with your finger, you can deepen it into the watch case by a fraction of a millimeter (about 0.5 mm). This, of course, is not a disadvantage, but it looks strange. The idea of the device itself is not bad, but the implementation leaves much to be desired.

It is not always possible to keep up with emerging new technologies and understand them. After all, all technologies are often modernized, new functions are added to them, or completely unfamiliar gadgets appear. One of the updated devices that has gained popularity quite recently is smart watches.

What is a smart watch

Smart watches (smart watches) are computerized wristwatches with a wide range of functions. This gadget has the functions of a communicator and can act as a second screen for a smartphone. In other words, a smartwatch is a small computer that can be put on your hand.

The emergence of the first smart watch

The first prototype of a modern smartwatch appeared in 1982. At that time, Seiko released digital watches with the ability to save small notes.

Later in 1994, Casio created watches that could be used to control home appliances such as televisions.

In 2000, IBM presented a new invention - Linux Watch. They had a built-in 32-bit processor. Also, this watch was equipped with an infrared port and a Bluetooth module.

The following year, IBM and Citizen presented their joint project – WatchPad. This model was equipped with an LCD screen, a Bluetooth module and an accelerometer.

The race for new inventions continued in 2003, Microsoft introduced the SPOT watch. This clock was part of a larger project that involved synchronizing all electronics with each other using a radio signal. But after five years this project was closed.

In 2007, Sony Ericsson produced the MBW-150 watch, the highlight of this watch was that it worked together with the phone via a Bluetooth connection. The dial displayed missed calls and messages; when a phone call was made, the watch vibrated and the caller's name was displayed on the display. Also from this watch you could reject incoming calls and control the player.

In 2009, Samsung launched a watch that could work on mobile networks without a smartphone. The watch had a touch screen, Bluetooth, and supported MP3 playback.

Subsequently, various companies modernized and improved smart watches, and by 2013, smart watches of today's familiar models were introduced.

Why do you need a smart watch, its capabilities and characteristics

Basically, modern models are able to work as independent devices. But to expand the functionality of this gadget, it is recommended to use the watch in conjunction with a smartphone. The watch can act as a remote control for a smartphone and display various notifications.

Many smartphones today have considerable dimensions, which often causes some inconvenience. Smart watches make it possible to use the most necessary functions of a smartphone without taking it out of your bag.

Thanks to timely notifications and their visual accessibility, smart watches make staying in touch easier than ever. And remote control of the camera and playlist will help you forget about your smartphone altogether.

Smartwatch models can work in the absence of a smartphone, which is very convenient. They often also have access to a Wi-Fi connection. And sensors that monitor the owner’s physical activity will delight sports fans and simply those who monitor their health.

A secure strap and built-in anti-loss feature help keep your watch safe. And if you lose your smartphone, a smart watch will help you find it.

The smartwatch synchronizes with your phone using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection and maintains communication at a distance of more than ten meters.

Main features and functions of smart watches:

  • Change of visual design and color scheme, possibility of changing the strap (from simple silicone to elegant leather with precious inserts).
  • Device control function using voice, voice recognition.
  • Notifications about calls, SMS, messages on social networks, receiving new emails and many other events.
  • Ability to send messages and letters.
  • Accept and reject incoming calls.
  • Health maintenance function. Smart watches can monitor heart rate, work as a pedometer, and even wake up their owner at the desired stage of sleep.
  • Ability to control your smartphone player via a smart watch.
  • Search for a smartphone.

Depending on the model and manufacturer, they can work without recharging from 1 to 7 days.

Advantages and disadvantages of smart watches

From the capabilities of smart watches described above, we can highlight the advantages of this modern gadget:

  • Smart watches can replace a smartphone during sports.
  • Instant alerts and notifications will not let you miss important calls, messages and events.
  • Small size of the device.
  • Various sensors and navigation systems.

General disadvantages include not very convenient making calls from this gadget and the possibility of damaging the device or its display, for example, when hit or dropped.

Look how beautiful and multifunctional they are!

New smart watch models

The market for these products is expanding at breakneck speed, and new smartwatch models are constantly being developed. For example, at the beginning of 2016, HTC plans to release smartwatches under its own brand. And just recently, a new watch from Samsung came out with a completely innovative control model. These are just a few examples of how this market is evolving.

Look at them!

Aren't they beautiful? It’s not for nothing that many people enjoy using this excellent watch model.

Updated and completely new watch models are released almost every month. Unfortunately, not all of them are represented in Russia. But, nevertheless, this makes it clear how vast and promising the smart watch market is, and how popular this invention is.

When it comes to choosing a smartwatch, there are a few things to consider:

When choosing a smart watch, special attention should be paid to the following parameters:

  • Design and materials. The design of such watches is not limited to sports ones; there are many models with a classic look. All that remains is to decide on personal preferences.
  • Protected from water and splashes. Some smartwatches are suitable for swimming due to their waterproof casing. Other models may only have splash protection, which will allow them to survive exposure to rain.
  • Connection with smartphone. Smartwatch models are not compatible with all smartphones. But there are also universal options.
  • Battery life. The minimum period of operation without recharging should be one day.

Setting up a smart watch is not difficult, the main thing is to choose a suitable watch model that is compatible with your smartphone. Devices are synchronized using an enabled Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection. You will only need to connect your smartwatch to your phone for the first time, then the devices will find each other on their own.

Most Chinese smartwatch manufacturers are trying, if not to copy the Apple Watch, then at least to imitate the most popular smartwatches in the world. There are, however, exceptions to the rules. One of these is the round RWATCH R11, which, in addition to an interesting design, also has a set of original functions.

Appearance

Chinese-made smartwatches are mostly similar to the Apple Watch: a slightly rounded case, two buttons on the side, an identical clasp, etc. The creators of the RWATCH R11, apparently, were inspired by the Moto 360 when developing the watch.
The 1.22-inch round display of the RWATCH R11 immediately attracts attention. It is made very neatly, and most importantly, it shows a very clear picture, even despite the low resolution of 240x204 pixels. Like other smartwatches with a round display, the RWATCH R11 has a small black stripe at the bottom, which cannot be blamed on the developers, since even the largest manufacturers creating similar solutions could not get rid of it.

The RWATCH R11 case is made of stainless steel, protected from corrosion and other external factors. At the same time, the RWATCH R11 has four body colors - the watch is available in black, silver, brown-silver and rose gold. The device's strap is made of real leather, while the clasp is quite primitive, but easy to use.

I would like to immediately note that the RWATCH R11 is a watch equally suitable for both men and women. The developers of the device even provide relevant statistics showing that people of both sexes become buyers.

Feature Set

RWATCH R11 has a set of functions that is not the most standard for a smartwatch, and in addition to its original design, there is something to look at. Let's start with the basic features.

By connecting the RWATCH R11 to a smartphone running iOS or Android, users immediately receive a number of additional features. Directly from a smart watch, it becomes possible to receive text messages, view your contact book and incoming notifications from various applications, control a compass, an alarm clock, and much more.

You can also receive calls using RWATCH R11. The speaker and microphone installed in the watch are of quite passable quality and allow you to not take your smartphone out of your pocket to receive a call.

RWATCH R11 has many functions for tracking health indicators. The built-in heart rate sensor is capable of measuring your pulse and recording the collected data for later comparison. This function will be especially convenient during sports, when you need to accurately track your heart rate.

RWATCH R11 also monitors your sleep - there is nothing unique in the sleep monitoring system, but the main thing is that it works stably, making it possible to assess the duration and quality of sleep every morning. A pedometer complements the range of healthy functions of our smartwatches, similar to a heart rate sensor that records the collected information in the device’s memory.

The “Find Smartphone” function will please especially absent-minded people who constantly strive to forget their phone on a cafe table or on their desktop. Another small but nice feature is the ability to remotely release the camera shutter using the RWATCH R11.

Peculiarities

We decided to highlight the following features of the RWATCH R11 smartwatch separately, since not all competing devices can offer such functions.

RWATCH R11 has a built-in IR blaster that turns your smartwatch into a truly universal remote control. By connecting the accessory to a TV, music player or other device with an infrared port, you can control and issue commands to your home appliances directly from the watch. Of course, the list of commands that can be executed with RWATCH R11 is quite limited, but switching channels, changing the volume and turning on/off the TV with their help is quite possible.

Another feature of the RWATCH R11 that distinguishes the watch from a great many competitors is its water resistance. The IP67 protection class also means protection from dust, which means that the RWATCH R11 will be able to serve faithfully for a very long time.

Battery

In smartwatches with such wide capabilities, developers were required to install a capacious battery. And so it happened - the RWATCH R11 is powered by a 220 mAh battery, the charge of which is enough for the device to operate for a day in mixed mode. If you do not use the watch very actively, then the RWATCH R11 can work for up to two days.

Specifications

  • CPU: MTK 2501
  • Bluetooth version: Bluetooth 4.0
  • RAM: 32 MB
  • Built-in memory: 24 MB
  • Screen: 1.22" IPS display with 240x208 pixel resolution
  • Battery capacity: 220 mAh
  • Compatibility with OS: iOS 4.3 and higher, iOS 7.0 and higher

Price and Availability

With such an original design and wide capabilities, RWATCH R11 is priced very cheaply, at only $68. However, watch creators constantly make discounts on the device and now, for example, the gadget can be purchased for only $44.58.
