Alcatel he touch c5. Alcatel OneTouch Pop C5 - Specifications

Two twin-simulators from ALCATEL with 4- and 4.5-inch display diagonals, 2-core processors, 4 GB of expandable internal memory, a good package that even includes headphones, and estimated price tags of $105 and $140. How everything is arranged, how it works and how competitive it is compared to other representatives of the segment will be discussed further.

Contents of delivery

Both smartphones come in compact cardboard boxes. In addition to images of the gadgets themselves, they contain icons informing about the technical capabilities of the devices.

The delivery set is identical - micro-cable, charger adapter, user manual and warranty card, as well as very good headphones. They fit quite well in the ears and are equipped with a microphone.

Design and usability

POP C3 can rightfully be called the “younger” twin brother of the POP C5 model. Moreover, their similarity does not end only with appearance, but more on that later.

The body of smartphones is made of plastic. The smooth shiny gloss of the pink POP C3 looks very impressive and “lively”, at the same time, a similar gray material, but matte, used in the POP C5 case, looks stylish and strict. But their color palette is not limited to just these paints - both models are also available in white and black.

Rounded sides, a convenient form factor, small dimensions and fairly modest weight, in my opinion, have the best effect on the ease of use of smartphones. And even though the POP C3 rightly “wins” over its older brother both in weight (110 g versus 157 g) and in size (122x64.4x11.95 mm versus 131.5x67.9x11.5 mm), managing the POP The C5 is no less comfortable to hold with your hand than the C3.

In general, the appearance and build quality of the devices left me with a positive impression. Although at first the plastic used seemed to me not to be as scratch-resistant as I would like. But during all the testing and daily transportation without any cases, the gadgets did not lose their presentation.

Assembly is a separate plus for the manufacturer. It is of high quality, there are no gaps, nothing crunches, even taking into account the removable rear panels.

Functional elements

Considering the external similarity of the models, it was not at all surprising that the buttons, ports and connectors on their cases were almost identically located.

So, on the upper end of both handsets there is a 3.5 mm audio jack and a power button, and on the lower end there is a micro-USB port and a special gap for removing the battery cover.

Under the latter there is a battery, two slots for standard-sized SIM cards and another for a memory card.

The right side edge is occupied by volume rockers.

On the front panel above the screen, the user will find a slot for the earpiece, and below it there are three touch control buttons “Back”, “Home” and “Menu”. In the older model they are backlit, but in the younger one they are not.

Among the noticeable differences, I would like to highlight the microphone output, which for POP C3 is located on the front panel, while for POP C5 it is located at the bottom end. In addition, their back sides are notable for the mirror arrangement of the speakers and eyes of the main cameras, a slightly shifted noise-canceling microphone, a modified logo, and the presence of an LED flash on the POP C5.

Against this background, much less noticeable was the absence of the manufacturer’s logo above the display on the older model. By the way, the POP C5 also houses the front camera peephole, which the POP C3 does not have at all.

Display

The 4-inch WVGA (480x800) POP C3 display and the 4.5-inch FWVGA (480x854) POP C5 screen are based on a matrix.

It provides fairly good viewing angles, although with significant deviations a significant fading of colors is noticeable, for example, the black color disappears completely into gray.

Contrast and brightness are at average levels. The latter is adjusted both manually and automatically. Even its maximum level is sometimes not enough for comfortable work in bright sunlight.

The sensor is sensitive and recognizes up to 2 simultaneous touches.
Pixelation is not noticeable to the naked eye, but does not interfere with everyday use.

The front panels of the gadgets are completely covered by DragonTrail protective glass - an analogue of the popular one. There is also an oleophobic coating. But unlike POP C3, in the case of POP C5 the effect of the latter is hardly noticeable - fingerprints appear quickly and are not at all easy to remove.

Equipment and performance

Along with their great portrait similarity, POP C3 and POP C5 are also notable for their identical hardware - a 2-core MediaTek MTK 6572 processor with a clock frequency of 1.3 GHz, Mali-400 MP graphics and 512 MB of RAM.

This “filling” is enough to run moderate games and play videos. By the way, according to the benchmark results, both models can be called quite worthy “mid-rangers” in the segment of smartphones with similar equipment.

Memory

The handsets have 4 GB of internal memory on board, leaving only about 2 GB for the user. Today this is not enough even for a budget employee. But even those who like to play should not be upset - the available volume can be expanded using memory cards up to 32 GB. By the way, they are hot-swappable in the older model. But neither POP C3 nor POP C5 support USB-OTG pairing.

Wireless modules

The devices' wireless modules include: 802.11b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct technology, with support for a-GPS and 4.0.

Dual-SIM

Smartphones support dual SIM cards in standby mode. The interface for working with them is standard for most MediaTek-based devices. You can set preferences for use, select a SIM card for the Internet and calls.

Battery

POP C3 is equipped with a 1300 mAh battery, and POP C5 has a much more capacious 1800 mAh battery. Overall, the battery life of both models left a good impression. Although the difference between them in numbers turned out to be very significant.

One full charge of POP C3 was enough for me to watch HD video for 1 hour, listen to music and surf the net for the same amount, plus half an hour for Angry Birds. But the autonomy of POP C5 was predicted to be higher. After similar manipulations, about 30% remained in stock.

Camera

POP C3 is equipped with one 3.2MP camera that records video in a maximum resolution of 1024x768 pixels. It has neither flash nor autofocus. The latter, by the way, is also absent from the POP C5 model, which has two cameras - a VGA front camera and a 5MP main one.

The first one shoots VGA video, and the second one shoots HD videos and is complemented by an LED flash.

However, the photo and video content captured on the cameras of both devices turned out to be of equally low quality. If in natural light the pictures turn out to be more or less tolerable, then in the absence of it or with artificial light in the room there is no need to talk about quality at all. Take a look at the examples.

Test photos

There is a small set of settings and modes for both photo and video shooting.

Speakers

Each model has two speakers - conversational and speakerphone. The first ones showed their best side, providing quite comfortable communication, including while staying in noisy places.

The speakerphone on both is quite loud. By the way, the younger POP C3 turned out to be slightly more powerful than the POP C5. At the same time, at maximum sound, both produce slightly “trembling” sounds.

In this case, headphones come to the rescue, which, as noted earlier, are included in the package. The sound in them is louder and cleaner.

Software

POP C3 and POP C5 operate under operating system 4.2.2. with a proprietary shell from Alcatel. The latter is already well known from our previous reviews of the manufacturer’s devices, for example, the same or.

Among the pre-installed programs, I would like to note Spritebackup for backup, a collection of One Touch Live programs, One Touch Center for synchronizing a smartphone with a PC via USB or Wi-Fi, and an application for creating a screen projection on a TV or monitor.

Also available are office suites Kingsoft Office and Office Suite, social networking clients Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and +, gaming social network Gameloft LIVE, FM radio Evernote, as well as Antivirus, Shazam, PicSay, music subscription service Deezer, Hangouts, WhatsApp , Viber and many others. etc.

You can control some smartphone functions using gestures.

conclusions

ALCATEL POP C3 and POP C5 are worth paying attention to those who are looking for an inexpensive smartphone in a convenient form factor, with good build, support for dual-SIM mode, performance and battery life worthy of their price tag, as well as good speakers. In this case, it will be necessary to “turn a blind eye” to such a drawback as the mediocre capabilities of the camera. However, this will be quite easy to do, given their cost of $105 and $140, respectively.

pros

High-quality assembly;
- Decent performance for its price tag;
- Android 4.2.2 out of the box;
- Ability to control movements;
- Good speakers;
- Good autonomy indicators.

Minuses

Mediocre camera capabilities.

Satellite navigation:

GPS(Global Positioning System) is a satellite navigation system that provides measurements of distance, time, speed and determines the location of objects anywhere on Earth. The system is developed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The basic principle of using the system is to determine location by measuring distances to an object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated by the delay time of signal propagation from sending it by the satellite to receiving it by the antenna of the GPS receiver.
GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measurement principle is similar to the American GPS navigation system. GLONASS is designed for operational navigation and timing support for land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that GLONASS satellites in their orbital motion do not have resonance (synchrony) with the rotation of the Earth, which provides them with greater stability.

Here you will find out prices, characteristics for all Alcatel smartphones (Alcatel) and see their photos. Basically they are called Alcatel One Touch (Alcatel Van Touch) - and then the name of the specific model and its number are written. Each Alcatel smartphone has a price in at least three companies selling it and the opportunity to buy it.

Alcatel 5

Alcatel smartphones (Alcatel) are quite popular devices in our country. In general, the ALCATEL brand comes from France. But several years ago it was bought by the Chinese company TCL. And now Alcatel smartphones are 100% made in China devices. At the beginning they conquered our market with low prices. But now the prices for smartphones of this brand are approximately on the same level as other less well-known brands from China.
These budget, inexpensive devices generally have quite nice designs.
Naturally, there are already many models with two SIM cards on sale.

They were popular and quite widespread. Then the company disappeared for a while and when it seemed that it was no longer worth waiting for, it returned with new devices. Modern, good, albeit Chinese. Its Idol smartphone series at one time became almost the thinnest and attracted a lot of attention from lovers of high-quality budget devices. What is this one? How everything is arranged, how it works and how competitive it is compared to other representatives of the segment will be discussed further.

Appearance

An inexpensive device with a 4.5-inch display diagonal. The body is glossy plastic and comes in three colors: white, gray and black. In our case, there was a white smartphone. There is a silver edging around the screen - this is also plastic, albeit designed to look like metal.

The smartphone turned out to be quite dense - the case thickness is 12 mm, and weighty - 157 g. But it fits comfortably in the hand. It can be used comfortably by both people with small and very large hands.

At the bottom of the display there are three touch buttons designed to control the system. There are two more buttons on the edges: on the top there is a screen unlock button, on the right there is a volume control. The USB port is located on the bottom edge, the 3.5 mm headphone jack is on the top.

The back cover is removable. Below it are two slots for full-size SIM cards and a slot for a microSD card. The memory card slot is not blocked by the battery, which means it can be hot-swapped.

The build quality is decent - the device is strong, there is no play or compression, the buttons are tightly fixed, the USB cable does not fall out of the slot. The materials are not bad. Perhaps the only criticism can be about the gloss of the back cover; it is not very practical.

Display

The 4.5-inch screen is made using TFT technology. Resolution - 480*854 pixels. The screen supports two simultaneous touches - this is enough for full use. The image quality is good, the colors are natural, the contrast is average.

It is better to set the brightness to maximum in manual mode. I won’t say that the display is faded, but in the middle of summer in the sun it is very difficult to use almost any gadgets.

Hardware platform

The device is made on the basis of MediaTek's dual-core platform - MT6572. The processor cores operate at frequencies up to 1.3 GHz. The Mali-400MP chip is responsible for the graphics. This is a very common platform, which is distinguished by reliability, good performance and moderate power consumption. The smartphone comes with 512 MB of RAM and 2 GB of storage, of which approximately 1.6 GB is available. In addition, you can use a microSD memory card, up to 32 GB is supported.

System performance is at a good average level. The interface works smoothly, there are no problems with applications running in the background.

The smartphone can work with two SIM cards in alternating mode, since there is only one antenna. At the same time, it is locked. “This doesn’t happen,” I thought and began to figure it out. Everything turned out to be quite simple. The smartphone is really locked and works with MTS SIM cards. But after you insert a SIM card from this operator into one of the slots, you can use a SIM card from any other cellular operator in the second slot.

Otherwise, everything is quite typical, as in all two-sim games. You can distribute tasks between SIM cards, specify which ones will be used for SMS, voice calls or data. Or you can leave the option to choose when sending each message or when dialing a number. You can also switch between SIM cards from the service menu at the top of the screen, which is convenient.

Alcatel POP C5 can work in 3G networks (900/2100), is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antennas, and a USB port. Can be used as an access point. Navigation is carried out using GPS satellites (a-GPS). But there is no FM radio here.

Battery

Such a system does not require a very powerful battery. It was all the more gratifying to see a removable 1800 mAh battery under the cover. Such a battery provides the smartphone with about a day of operation without recharging, which can be considered a worthy result.

Camera

5 megapixel camera with flash Alcatel POP C5 This is a very average photo module. It allows you to get decent quality pictures in good lighting, ideally natural. You can shoot video in 720p quality and at a frame rate of 30 fps. There is also a front camera, its module is quite simple - 0.3 MP, but suitable for selfies.

The quality of the pictures is not bad, the color rendition looks natural, and there are no problems with contrast. There is no autofocus, so it's better to shoot static objects. This also applies to video shooting. I would like to note the simplicity of the camera interface; the developers clearly decided to get rid of everything unnecessary, leaving the necessary minimum settings.

Software

As for the software, in Alcatel POP C5 Google Android 4.2 appears before our eyes in its purest form. Well, and a few more additions like the SwiftKey keyboard with wide customization options, a file manager and an application for creating backups in the cloud.

Competitors

Fly IQ4403 Energy 3

A stylish DualSIM smartphone from Fly can be bought for about five thousand rubles. It looks a lot like the Alcatel POP C5, but the word Energie is in the name for a reason. A capacious 4000 mAh battery for such a “baby” is very cool. And it allows you to use it without charging for at least three days.
