With the advent of powerful mobile devices, the gaming industry has significantly expanded its scope. Today, most of those who have never been fans of computer games play on their Android mobile device. The vast population of “mobile gamers” also includes a fair number of children. This can be explained quite simply – your mobile device is always at hand. If you work, then during the break you can have fun and relax. If you are waiting in line at a hospital or housing office, traveling on a minibus or subway, or just want to relax for a few minutes, then your smartphone will be your best assistant. Just download new games for Android and plunge into the world of entertainment.

There can be no talk of competition between mobile games and computer and console games. Most of these games require attention and immersion for a long time, Android applications are quite the opposite - they will not take up much of your time and will not force you to delve into every little detail. As a result of their popularity, mobile games have spawned several gaming genres, some of which are unique and never existed before. We have identified several of the broadest game genres for Android games, a description of which can be found below.

Arcade

Games of this kind usually have simple and primitive gameplay that does not require the player to have a deep understanding of everything that is happening. The main purpose of a mobile arcade is to kill time and entertain the user.

The following subgenres should be considered arcade games:

Scrollers

Games in which the main character or car constantly moves in one direction, usually from left to right or from bottom to top, dodging obstacles and destroying flying enemies. It would seem that such entertainment should have remained in the days of slot machines, but today among the new games for Android there are several great scrollers, for example, “Sky Force 2014”.

Platformers

Games in this genre are mostly two-dimensional. They got this name because the main character moves through so-called blocks, be they pieces of land in the sky, a multi-story building with many rooms, or something else. The brightest representative of this genre is a series of games about a plumber named Mario.

Runners

In such applications, the main character simply runs/flies/drives forward, and all that is required of the player is to overcome obstacles and collect various kinds of bonuses and currency. Previously, runners were almost never practiced on other devices and can be considered exclusive to smartphones and tablets. The top three hit runners include: “Subway Surfers”, “Temple Run” and “Ski Safari”.

Slashers

Applications in which the player has to use swipes as controls, that is, quickly swipe a finger in a certain direction to perform some action. A typical slasher film is Ninja Fruit.

On mobile devices, arcade games are often fights (fighting games), as well as shooters and racing games. However, the last two types of games are so broad that we distinguish them as independent genres.

Race

Everyone knows what racing is. The player's task is to be the first to reach the finish line, beating all opponents on the track. Despite such a simple formulation, this genre still had a long development, which at the present stage has given us many opportunities. Today, in a mobile race, you will not only be able to fly off the ramps, use the nitrous oxide system and go into drifts, but also install new parts on your car: spoilers, mirrors, bumpers, hoods, wheels, engines, gearboxes and any other hardware. There is also an aesthetic component - painting every part and gluing various vinyls, which will make your car unique. Also today, multiplayer is already well developed, which allows players from different parts of the world to compete, participate in championships, be in ratings and earn in-game currency.

Leading representatives of the genre: the Asphalt and Need for Speed game series.

As mentioned earlier, racing games for Android are often arcade-style, that is, they have simplified, unrealistic controls and physics. However, there are also truly complex, realistic races that belong to the genre of car simulators and require the player to persevere, strength and patience to hone his driving skills.

However, racing (and other new games on Android) is not only about cars and dusty roads, a colorful third-person view behind the car. For starters, they can be two-dimensional or from a bird's eye view (“Reckless Getaway”), but there are also non-car competitions, such as water or even futuristic ones. The latter include two amazing, new Android games - “Riptide GP2” and “Repulze”.

Action

A genre of Android games, the definition of which is rather vague. It includes all applications that require the player to be attentive, have a good reaction, and be able to quickly assess what is happening and make the right tactical decision. The gameplay of such games is dynamic and spectacular. First of all, the action genre is usually referred to as shooters. These types of games invite the user to use firearms and other weapons to destroy opponents and hit other targets. Shooters come in both 3D and 2D. Speaking about the best shooters for Android platforms, we should mention the “Modern Combat”, “N.O.V.A” and “DEAD TRIGGER” series.

Action games also include various types of hunts (“DEER HUNTER” and “DINO HUNTER”) and shooting galleries (“CONTRACT KILLER: ZOMBIES”).

There are discussions about the ease of control in such games, since without a computer mouse or console gamepad, it is not so easy to conveniently control a three-dimensional shooter. You can be sure that this problem will be solved in the near future, but for now you need to either buy an external controller for your smartphone, or just get the hang of the current controls.

Strategy

In strategy, the player has to think carefully before making his move. In games of this genre, strategic and tactical thinking, excellent planning skills and the ability to cover the entire gaming infrastructure are worth their weight in gold. Initially, this genre was represented by various kinds of war games, in which the player’s main task is to destroy the enemy, his troops and settlements. To do this, you usually need to build various buildings that have one or another function, be it supplying wood to warehouses or hiring elite types of troops. Next, we form, develop and train our army in order to subsequently send it to enemy territory (“Empire: Four Kingdoms” or “Clash of Clans”). A well-known and at the same time the most ancient strategy is chess, which, by the way, also belongs to the puzzle genre.

But mobile strategies for the most part differ from computer ones for the reason that they require less time from the player. Therefore, in addition to the usual strategies that were mentioned earlier, there are also tactical and economic ones. The former do not bother the player and allow you to think carefully about decisions before making them (“Age of Civilizations”), the latter are not at all related to military affairs. Economic strategies often provide the player with a city, a network of establishments, or a single enterprise, which must be developed by making the right economic decisions: the level of taxes, the purchase of new buildings/items, and other tasks. Recently, economic strategies have been formed mostly from followers of the game “Farm Frenzy” and its similarities.

Strategies also include a large variety of card games that require the same tactical and strategic qualities from the player (“Magic” or “Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft”).

Two other popular subgenres that the Warcraft mod brought to us are Tower Defense and Tower Offense. As the name implies, the player will have to either build and improve towers to protect something, or produce and train an army to attack enemy towers and other fortifications. The best strategies for Android devices in this genre are “Kingdom Rush”, “Bloons TD 5” or the “Anomaly” series.

In general, strategies are divided into turn-based and RTS (real-time). If in the first case you have the opportunity to calmly and thoughtfully perform a limited number of actions before making a move, then in the second case you must be ahead of time, instantly make strategic decisions and try to overtake your opponent in development as quickly as possible.

Role-playing (RPG) and quest

Not the most popular genre among Android games, as it requires the player to immerse himself in the game world. In a role-playing game, the player plays the role of one, sometimes several characters, each of which has its own set of characteristics, skills and abilities. The player's task is to explore the game world (usually a fantasy one), develop abilities and improve the characteristics of the main character, improve his weapons and armor, as well as buy various auxiliary items, and follow the storyline. For convenience, most mobile role-playing games are made in 3D graphics with a third-person view, usually from a bird's eye view. Among the excellent RPG games for Android are the famous series “Dungeon Hunter”, “Kritika”, “Iron Knights”, “Rise of Darkness” and even the not typical “Angry Birds Epic”.

There are also an excellent number of Android role-playing games that have been ported from computers and consoles, including Baldur's Gate, The Banner Saga, Shadowrun or The Bard's Tale.

Role-playing games include adventure non-dynamic text quests, in which the player, following the storyline represented by the main character, must complete various tasks, reveal secrets and find objects, as happens in the Android games “Syberia”, “House of 1000 Doors” or "Lost souls".

Puzzles

A game genre that requires perseverance and intense mental activity from the player. Puzzles come in many different types, but their goal is the same - to make the player “rack” his head. For mobile devices, the most acceptable type of puzzle gameplay is Tetris and tag or their similarities: “1010!”, “Dots”, “Move”, “Don’t tap the white tile” or “2048”. In games of this kind, we have a field with several elements that interact in one way or another. The convenience of such puzzles is that they do not require much time from the player, and also allow you to compete with friends, comparing the number of points scored.

Not least among the puzzles are various board games, which gradually migrated from cardboard boards and paper to the screens of Android devices. Here, of course, there are chess and checkers, backgammon and crossword puzzles, a sea battle, a field of miracles, a millionaire and even origami (“Paperama”).

Other more colorful puzzles are based on the laws of physics or their own in-game laws, following which you must complete the task. These puzzles include Swampy the Crocodile, Cut the Rope, Amazing Alex, Where's Perry? and "Trip-Trap". You should calculate the behavior of certain game objects, prepare all the conditions to achieve the final result, and then begin the execution process, periodically adjusting it.

There are also completely atypical puzzles in which the player will have to adapt to what is happening on the screen in such a way as to complete a certain task. For example, in the magnificent puzzle “The Room” you open a box, in “100 Doors” you open the corresponding number of doors, or in “World of Goo” you build bridges from living sticky balls.

Simulator

Games of this genre offer the player to feel like a specialist in a certain real-life field. Here you can build bridges, sculpt clay pots, manage your own construction company or a large-scale realistic farm, and also fish. All of the above is respectively presented in the following Android games: “Bridge Constructor”, “Let’s Create! Pottery", "Construction Simulator 2014", "Farming Simulator" and "Carp Fishing Simulator".

It is also convenient to classify sports games as simulators, which are actually simulations of real sports and team games. Mobile platforms will allow you to play real football, basketball, tennis, billiards, bowling and even skateboarding or snowboarding.

In fact, all the genres described above are quite arbitrary, and any mobile game can have elements of three or four different genres. A similar layout of applications in the gaming industry is made to make it more convenient to find the desired game both on store shelves and in online catalogs.

Game process

Few people are unfamiliar with the GTA series games, which include this one. The main character, Jason, is a boxer who is threatened by the leader of the local gangsters, demanding a loss in the 4th round. But the opponent falls even earlier and Jason begins to have serious problems. He manages to escape by turning to his friend's relative for help.

From this moment the story of saving one’s own life begins. The player will have to drive cars, motorcycles and even become a pilot. The hero also needs to be protected by visiting a store with weapons and body armor. As the game progresses, the gamer will have to complete story missions and additional tasks to receive money and bonuses. These include the destruction of necessary targets, delivery of cargo around the city and much more.

When breaking the rules, you must remember that this attracts the attention of the police. The level of interest in cops is indicated by the number of icons in the upper right corner. To hide from them, you need to change your vehicle, repaint it, or simply “go to the bottom.”

Are you the owner of a modern Android device? Then you wouldn’t mind checking out its capabilities to the fullest - both processor power and screen quality - all of this can best be demonstrated by games with fairly complex and beautiful graphics, of which, as it turns out, there are quite a few on Google Play.

The best graphics on Android: what does this concept include? Spectacular landscapes and realistic characters, console-level animation and amazing detail - all this is in our selection of games.

CSR Racing 2

CSR Racing 2 is perhaps the most realistic and stylish racing game you can find for Android devices. Incredibly detailed graphics, licensed famous sports cars, drawn so accurately that the line with reality is blurred - that’s what this racer from NaturalMotionGames is all about. Therefore, his choice is not at all surprising - it is difficult to find a more beautiful game. But its essence is not only in the visual parameters - the gameplay here is no less impressive than the graphics.

MORTAL KOMBAT X

In this development from Warner Bros. Not only will you meet familiar characters from the famous fighting game series, but you will also encounter promising newcomers, take part in brutal and uncompromising matches and enjoy the quality of both controls and graphics. It is practically indistinguishable from the console version, which will allow your battles to be surprisingly spectacular and realistic.

Modern Combat 5: Blackout

Without this shooter from Gameloft, our list would be incomplete - it is included in the list of games with the best graphics quality since its appearance on mobile platforms. Its spectacular shootouts take place in carefully drawn locations, and the explosions and special effects will not leave you indifferent - it looks exciting literally from the first frames.

Godfire: Rise of Prometheus

The graphics of this game are simply incredible - the Unreal Engine allowed the authors from Vivid Games to demonstrate to gamers amazing special effects, the play of light and shadow, realistically animated characters and spectacular landscapes, against which dynamic and bloody battles take place. The game's setting invites you to a time when gods and titans ruled the roost, and the epic and large-scale events of ancient myths were reality - you won't be able to tear yourself away from this, believe me.

Assassin's Creed Identity

Ubisoft developed this action-RPG for mobile platforms using the Unity engine, so we have no doubts about the graphical parameters of the game. Italy during the Renaissance is beautiful - and this is your chance to see it for yourself. Choose a class, customize and develop your assassin, complete missions and go through quests - there is so much content here that you will not get bored. Your character will be able to freely move around the game world, visiting real-life places, and this excursion into the Middle Ages will be surprisingly addictive.

The Talos Principle

One of the best and most entertaining PC puzzlers from the developers from DevolverDigital has become mobile, but, unfortunately, it is only compatible with devices running on NVIDIA K1 or X1 processors. However, we have included this game on our list, if only because its graphics are incredibly beautiful. And this is not counting its other advantages - a huge number of stylish puzzles, intuitive controls and a deep plot.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath

A balanced combination of action gameplay, adventure elements and stunning graphics is what this development from Oddworld Inhabitants Inc. represents. The authors promise us 20 hours of exciting action in the role of a strange-looking bounty hunter who arrives in an abandoned village inhabited by equally, if not more strange creatures. This Wild West story comes in a visually whimsical yet incredibly beautiful package - download and enjoy.

The Walking Dead: Season Two

This acclaimed adventure series from Telltale Games is divided into seasons of several episodes each and impresses not only with its well-thought-out storyline, but also with its stunning, stylized graphics. The game's characters are based on the characters from the series "The Walking Dead", and the authors managed to convey both their appearance and character in the best possible way. Play as your favorite heroes, feel the chilling horror of clashes with zombies, survive in inhospitable locations - a ton of emotions is guaranteed to you.

Horn™

Looking for console-quality graphics and a fun action-adventure game? Then Phosphor Games Studio has something to offer you: their development Horn has all the necessary qualities to make it difficult to put down. The adventures of a young blacksmith await you, who is trying to free the inhabitants of his village by returning them to their former appearance. He will have to fight incredible monsters and see picturesque locations, solve many puzzles and return harmony to his world.

The Room Three

It would be impossible not to mention this stylish, real-world physics-based puzzle game on our list. The world of this game is interactive and responds to your every gesture, objects are drawn in surprisingly detail, and each of them hides many secrets that you have to uncover. The combination of a mysterious atmosphere with quality graphics amazes the imagination and does not allow you to stop - this game is so addictive that you will definitely want to complete it to the end.

Almost all companies that produce smartphones make flagships, the hardware of which is significantly different from budget and mid-range models. One of the main reasons for this filling is the support for powerful mobile games. This article lists the heaviest games on Android.

TOP 7 powerful games

A distinctive feature of heavy gaming applications is the significant consumption of mobile gadget resources, in particular, RAM, CPU and GPU resources, and storage space.

To a large extent, high performance in games depends on the graphics chip, since it is engaged in rendering beautiful graphics - the most resource-consuming process. Below are 7 particularly beautiful and powerful games on Android.

The peak of gaming graphics development on phones occurred in 2013–2014. Then the first processors running on eight cores appeared, as well as high-performance video accelerators, which were initially made for regular system rendering, and then the Snapdragon 800 came out.

Despite the long release date, Real Racing 3 still amazes with its beauty. Its release became an impetus for the acquisition of flagship gadgets. And all this despite the fact that the game is made on the same engine as the previous part - Real Racing 2.

Now the Electronic Arts product is also free. True, at the same time, the now popular micropayments have been introduced into it, which to a certain extent help or decorate the passage and the entire gameplay. However, this does not prevent it from being a reference car simulator to this day.

The list of licensed tracks in Real Racing 3 is constantly expanding. There are more than 140 cars from various manufacturers, and a multiplayer game mode. It is worth noting that to install on your gadget you must have at least 1.5 GB of free space.

In the same way that DICE makes a shooter a la Battlefiled out of any PC game, the Madfinger Games studio treats products dedicated to the idea of zombies: two parts of Dead Trigger, Shadowrun, and then it came to Unkilled. Changes in graphics for the better are noticeable, however, this also applies to weapons and game locations.

The typical plot of ordinary shooters is accompanied by convenient controls, beautiful special effects, a variety of weapons that require constant improvement, etc. By the way, upgrading weapons is the main goal of microtransactions, because without this, shooting efficiency will increase much more slowly.

Unkilled has Russian localization and requires an active Internet connection. The words of the developers that this is the most beautiful product about shooting zombies are not an empty phrase. They really did a good job here in conveying the atmosphere of New York filled with the walking dead.

The game has more than 150 story missions, a large number of unique enemies and bosses, 40+ weapons of several classes, a variety of costumes and weapon decorations. There is also a PvP mode with five real players and the opportunity to become a champion in ranked leagues.

Historically, there have been no action blockbusters with interesting plots and beautiful framing for mobile platforms. Half-Life 2 was ported at Nvidia's expense, which, as expected, limits the product's performance exclusively on devices with Tegra 4. There is, of course, an amateur port of Doom 3, but it has a significant number of shortcomings.

However, even among such a rare selection of genres, there is a significantly enjoyable game - Modern Combat 5, created by Gameloft. It occupies a leading position in the world of telephone shooting games, overtaking the “retired” N.O.V.A. 3.

Here the battles look in a cinematic style, the levels are beautifully designed, the parameters of which include destructibility of objects and changeable weather conditions, modern weapons and an action-packed story.

In terms of graphics, the game lags somewhat behind similar products, despite its decent qualities. There are many moments where you can get to the bottom of design decisions, but in general the quality of light, water and reflection holds a decent standard. So among multiplayer shooting games, this is one of the most beautiful products.

Typically, online games dominate franchises where story is the main focus and multiplayer is optional - on computers and consoles. Now they have moved to mobile platforms, especially with the advent of 4G frequencies.

Vainglory is that product of the gaming industry when “mobile Dota” seems to be a reality. This is a MOBA game with its own stylistic, technical and plot nuances. By the way, she also became part of the e-sports world with large prize pools at tournaments.

The graphics here are simply gorgeous, just like for games where the scale of the map practically does not increase to view all the objects in the smallest detail. The environment, landscape, characters, objects - everything is very beautifully drawn.

As befits games of this genre, you won't be able to play on the go for 10 minutes, then save and exit, and then continue again. The match lasts non-stop, from start to finish. So you need to set aside special time for such a gaming session.

The game is really hard. Apart from requiring an active Internet connection, it works reasonably well with at least two gigabytes of RAM, although 3 GB or more is preferable. At the same time, the battery charge is consumed noticeably quickly. But it is worthy of the pleasant sensations and emotions that Vainglory gives to its players.

Mortal Kombat X

Most mobile games in the class of shooters, fighting games or RPGs are underdeveloped not only from a director's point of view, but also from a realistic point of view. This applies to both stupid AI competitors and childish sweetness, which seems to specifically characterize such products as “for overgrown children.” But with Mortal Kombat X, things are completely different.

It's a rarity when the game graphics are absolutely similar to the trailer graphics. For most gamers, MK needs no introduction, but newcomers should know that there is a special level of cruelty here that cannot be matched by any representative of this genre (maybe even all others).

There are debates about the level of detail, where the game is compared with such fighting games as Injustice, UFC, etc. But here there is no longer taste and color, since in the same Injustice the details of the levels are better drawn, but not the characters, but UFC, although it is sufficient beautiful, but not for everyone and not as popular as MK.

However, problems did not spare the game. Initially, you can play as unknown fighters, but you need to pay to open old, well-known characters, as well as to modernize them. Also, taking into account the adaptation of the game to touch screens, the controls look too simple and casual, which, of course, does not give a feeling of skill in battles. But still, these are still the coolest fights in the history of the gaming industry.

Need for Speed: No Limits

While PC and console users were content with the 2015 NFS remake, smartphone gamers were introduced to Need for Speed: No Limits. The essence of the gameplay is similar to the new part of the series - a chase from the police and competitions with AI opponents in upgradable cars (by the way, the variety of cars is similar to the desktop version of the game), a night city, an interesting plot and beautiful graphics.

However, the same graphical component has its own shortcomings, which the developers skillfully disguised. But this is good, because the game is not the newest, but it brings pleasure from fast driving. Here they did a good job with reflection, headlights, depth of field, weather, not to mention tuning.

The game was not spared the microtransaction system. Moreover, in this case, they open new tracks, cars, speed up progress in the campaign and “refuel” the iron horses without delay. And yet, as a street racing, it is a clear leader and is worth enjoying its capabilities.

Gangstar:Vegas

While Rockstar was slowly working on GTA 5 and at the same time swaggering with the money they received from the previous part, Gameloft was already busy working on an alternative to this game. In 2010, iPhone and Android users felt the first steps in this direction by trying Gangstar: Miami Vindication - a primitive, but still GTA-like product.

A few years after that, the first parts of GTA began to appear on mobile platforms, while the Gameloft franchise became much more confident, including due to the large number of borrowings.

And now, Gangstar: Vegas. The quality of the plot, mini-games, open world simulation and its scale are all far from Rockstar products. But the game firmly occupies its niche and is one of the most beautiful action games in the open world.

Obviously, the Gameloft product seems to be a more naive option and is completed relatively quickly. It seems that the controls are not the most convenient, but to enjoy real gaming entertainment this is quite enough, because the game is quite demanding on the resources of the gadget.
