Colleagues from OpenSignal conducted another study of networks, using which today we will try to determine which country has the fastest mobile Internet in the world. We will talk not only about 4G, but also about 3G.
The data was collected using 822,556 users worldwide who use mobile software from OpenSignal. In addition, I would like to pay attention to networks and determine how much time the user spends surfing the Internet using this type of connection.
The country with the fastest mobile Internet is South Korea; the Internet speed in this country is 41 Mbit/sec. Singapore comes next with 31 Mbit/s. Hungary is in third place, with Internet speeds of 26 Mbit/sec. It is worth noting that the results of this study are as realistic as possible, since the real speed of users is determined, and not the maximum actual one.
If we take the USA as an example, the Internet speed there is 12.3 Mbit/s, in the UK - 13.7 Mbit/s, in China a “modest” 18 Mbit/s. In France, Germany, Italy, Greece and Portugal, the figures are similar and average 13 Mbit/s. If we look at developing countries, for example India, the mobile Internet speed there is 5.3 Mbit/s.
Users of countries with the fastest Internet speeds are at least 90% of the time in the area of 3G coverage and above. Moreover, in the USA, with its modest indicator, we have 91% for this parameter, which is quite strange.
Additionally, users currently still tend to use Wi-Fi connections instead of 4G connections, with the latter type of connections not being fast enough in certain countries. Meanwhile, one cannot deny the fact that the mobile Internet, and even more so LTE, eats up a lot of device resources, and, as you already understand, we are talking about battery charge, which will melt before our eyes. For example, in 46 countries, users spend more than 50% of their time using a Wi-Fi connection.
Even people in countries with the fastest 3G/4G connections spend 60% of their time online using Wi-Fi.
