Changing task conditions.

The year is coming to an end, and the time for gifts is getting closer, when you are waiting for something new and unexpected. Today we are taking the first step towards the next version of World of Tanks and sharing some details about it. This year has been full of events and improvements, and update 9.21 will continue this tradition with balance changes to UK tank destroyers, as well as the release of an alternative branch of French heavy tanks.

British tank destroyer

The British branch of crazy tank destroyers is not played as crazy as it is read. We were told about this by your reviews on the forum and statistical indicators based on the results of the battles. Although the rate of fire and accuracy of the AT series vehicles can only be envied, the overall picture was clouded by vulnerabilities in the armor, which reduced all the impressive security of the equipment to zero, turning it into an easy target. To improve the effectiveness of these slow monsters, we have reduced their frontal vulnerability. Additionally, some tank destroyers have improved 32-pounder guns. These changes should strengthen their role as fire support vehicles that can block damage when necessary and grind down the enemy thanks to their high rate of fire.

The rebalance of the branch would not be complete without a corresponding top - a car that would harmoniously fit into the branch after the Turtle. Tank destroyer X FV215b (183) fell out of the game concept, even though it is a formidable machine, dangerous and at the same time demanding of the players. So we decided to transfer it to the special category and thereby make room for the new tank destroyer FV217 Badger .

Similar to predecessors in the branch, on FV217 Badger A rapid-fire cannon is installed, capable of penetrating heavily armored enemy vehicles. The style of play on this tank destroyer will in many ways resemble the gameplay IX Tortoise, however, the newcomer will have higher firepower and armor, making it a logical continuation of Tier IX. Alternative branch of French heavy tanks

The French research tree will receive a new branch of heavy tanks, starting with the vehicle VII AMX M4 ml. 45.

Surely we can say that this new trinity will make you change your attitude towards “cardboard drum strings” from France. First of all, these vehicles have sufficient thickness of frontal and turret armor to deflect most projectiles, and the guns have a cyclic loading system, excellent accuracy, aiming time and stabilization. By the way, there are two of them - two full-fledged top guns. You'll just have to make a choice between a weapon with higher damage per shot or one with higher damage per minute. In this case there is no bad or good option. There is a weapon that suits your playstyle better.

Update 9.21

The patch has been prepared for the new year 2018 and will be released on December 12, 2017. The general test will begin on November 16, 2017. The release dates for update 9.21 for each stage are presented in this table.

The whole of November and the first half of December are reserved for a closed supertest of patch nine point twenty-one, two open tests (first and second) and the final launch of update 9.21 on Tuesday, December 12.

Changes in update 9.21

Among the main changes are the addition of World of Tanks maps after their modification. We are talking about the following game locations:

  2. Provinces;
  3. Minsk.

Along with the release of patch 9.21, events leading up to the new year will appear in the game, such as the New Year's hangar. The release will add to WOT the results of the developers’ work on reworking tank models and maps in HD. The main change updates 9.20.1 was the replacement of the FV215b tank with the Super Conqueror. Patch 9.21 will also make changes to the vehicle development tree. This time object 263 will undergo rearrangements. We will tell you the details below.

Vehicles in update 9.21

As for vehicles, the main innovation in update 9.21 will be an alternative tank destroyer branch in the development tree of USSR tanks. All new equipment will be focused on two purposes: storming enemy positions; damage absorption. Both targets make the second branch of Soviet tank destroyers consisting of armored vehicles with high damage. The changes are aimed at improving melee combat.

Details of vehicle changes for update 9.21 are below:

  • armor increased;
  • increased damage for all tank destroyers by 10%;

Changes to British tank destroyers in update 9.21

In patch 9.21, the armor of the British tank destroyer will be completely changed. But it all starts with the grand replacement of the top British FV215b (183) with the FV217 Badger. A level 10 vehicle swap will give rise to other equally significant changes. The reworking of armor for anti-tank self-propelled guns in patch 9.21 is comprehensive. Even cult Tortoise with its legendary protection has undergone changes. Now at level 9 there will be a completely new combat vehicle in terms of front and hull armor.

Lower level equipment in the branch British tank destroyer will receive modified armor, as well as significantly improved screens. It will become more difficult to penetrate the “British” with shells in World of Tanks version 9.21. Changes to armor are necessary due to the fact that British tank destroyers stood out from the general list of equipment capable of withstanding shots from guns with previously increased power for some Tier 10 tanks.

A new way to receive reward cars.

“Award lists” have been removed, and instead “Components” of the vehicle have been introduced:

1. To receive a reward vehicle for an operation, you must collect all 5 components: hull, suspension, gun, power plant and radio;
2. Each component has its own branch of tasks in the operation:
a) Power plant - task branch for light tanks;
b) Chassis - task branch for medium tanks;
c) Hull (+ turret or wheelhouse) - task branch for heavy tanks;
d) Weapon - task branch for tank destroyers;
e) Radio station - task branch for self-propelled guns.
3. To receive the component, you must complete the final fifteenth task in the corresponding branch.

Order forms.

Added a new entity “Order Forms”:

1. To earn an order form, you must complete any finishing task of any branch with honors;
2. Order forms can be included (that is, applied) to any tasks. Thus:
a) The selected task will be automatically considered completed without distinction;
b) You will receive a reward for the main conditions of the task;
c) The spent order form will remain included in the task;
d) The pledged order form does not disappear, but is temporarily frozen until you take it back.
3. To pick up the enclosed order form, you must complete the task in which it is enclosed with honors. This way you get your order form back and can use it again.
4. The number of order forms required to be included in the tasks:
a) For any task from 1 to 14 - 1 order form;
b) In task 15 - 4 order forms.

To summarize: Order forms can be used to skip tasks that are difficult or uninteresting to you. And most importantly: you can place order forms in the final, fifteenth task in the branch, even if you have not yet completed the previous 14 tasks. Thus, you can instantly obtain the 5th missing component of the machine by completing 4 task branches with honors.

New rewards.

1. Added a new reward - stripes:
a) In each operation you can earn 2 stripes:
* The II degree badge is issued simultaneously with the receipt of the award vehicle;
* The 1st degree badge is awarded for completing all 75 tasks of a specific operation with distinction.
b) For completing all tasks in all operations you receive a special unique patch “Champion of the 1st Campaign”
2. Added a new reward - camouflage schemes:
a) In each operation you can earn a set of 3 (summer, winter, desert) unique camouflage schemes:
* A set of 3 camouflage schemes for a reward vehicle is issued for completing all 75 missions of the operation;
* The same set of circuits is unlocked for use on all vehicles of the same nation as the award vehicle for completing all 75 missions with distinction.

Changing task conditions

The objectives in each operation have been revised to increase the relevance of the main reward. For example, now all tasks from the “StuG IV” operation can be completed on Tier V vehicles, from the “T28 Heavy Tank Concept” operation - on Tier VII, and so on. However, the restrictions on participation have not changed. You can perform the tasks of any operation even at the X level of technology.

We also made the additional conditions in the final, fifteenth tasks of each branch more diverse. This is due to the fact that the additional reward for tasks that complete branches has become more valuable: Order Forms are now located there.

Note! If, according to the conditions of the task, you need, for example, to discover 5 vehicles in a battle, and you discovered 7, obviously the task will be successfully accepted. This rule is valid for all numerical conditions.

Bonuses and medals

From 9.20.1, when receiving a medal from the “Epic Achievements” and “Battle Heroes” categories, the player will receive additional encouragement in the form of bonds. Bonuses will not be awarded for cumulative medals. The number of bonds is not final and may be changed. Read more.

Improvements for Training Ground mode

Changes:
* Irrelevant options have been disabled in the context menus of the vehicle upgrade windows, the Research Tree, and the vehicle carousel.
* Rewards (credits and experience) for victories and defeats when completing the Training Ground have been balanced.
* Rewards for completing the Training Ground are now displayed in the notification center.
* Added a notification to players that they will not receive a reward when completing the Training Grounds again.
* The crew recruitment window has been made more informative.

Corrections

* Fixed errors in the incorrect display of some interface elements in color blind mode.

World of Tanks celebrates the end of 2017 with a redesigned appearance customization system, a new branch of French heavy tanks, as well as long-awaited balance changes for British tank destroyers and a new map for pitched battles. You will definitely have something to do. Now let's get down to business.



What's new?

Reworking of UK tank destroyers

The British branch of tank destroyers with fixed wheelhouses was not popular due to armor vulnerabilities. In update 9.21, we will improve their frontal and side armor, thanks to which they will be able to take their place among assault tank destroyers. These changes should strengthen their role as fire support vehicles that can block damage and grind down the enemy thanks to their high rate of fire.
New British car at level X: .

Not very well suited for the role of an assault vehicle capable of close combat. But this role should have become a distinctive feature of the branch, especially after the rework. To ensure that the gameplay of British tank destroyers is consistent across the entire branch, we replaced the “bumper” with the FV217 Badger. The newcomer will inherit all the distinctive features of its predecessors, but will have higher firepower and armor, offering a unique gaming experience at Tier X.

If you have already purchased the FV215b (183), then with the release of update 9.21 you will keep it and will be transferred to the special vehicles category. You'll also get Badger for free.

New heavy tanks of France

The new branch of French heavy tanks will start with the vehicle. Each newcomer will have a choice of two top guns: the first with higher damage per shot, and the second with a higher rate of fire, which will allow players to abandon the “shoot and hide” tactics that were often imposed on the French heavy tank game. But that's not all: the new trinity is distinguished by decent thickness of the frontal armor of the hull and turret. An excellent gun depression angle and a decent margin of safety will allow you to stay alive in the heat of battle, as well as contribute to the team’s victory.

Start researching the new branch of French heavy tanks with the AMX M4 mle. 54. It has fairly strong frontal armor and offers a choice of two top guns, which will completely determine your play style. The rapid-fire 120mm gun will make you a real tank destroyer from the second line. Do you like to exchange shots in close combat? Your choice is a 130mm gun with high one-time damage. Choose the weapon that best suits your playing style. And if you get tired of playing with one, just install another.

New map for pitched battles

If you have studied every bush on the Nebelburg map and have repeatedly asked to expand the list of available maps for general battles, version 9.21 will please you with a size of 1.4 by 1.4 km. This new arena was created specifically for the General Battle type of battle, and also features standard and counter battles. This map brings tank battles to North America and immerses you in the atmosphere of stories about the gold rush in Alaska and the Yukon. In the Klondike you will find a densely built mining town, open areas and an abandoned mining settlement. Different types of terrain will provide you with many opportunities for tactical maneuvers for each class of vehicle and will definitely not make you bored. New mechanics for changing appearance

As you already know, during 2018 we will rework the mechanics of changing the appearance of vehicles into a more complex system, which will allow you to give your car a unique style. Update 9.21 lays the foundation for this by adding styles and designating areas of the car that you can change yourself. Now you can separately paint the hull, turret, gun, chassis and gun mantlet, choose the size of the camouflage and give your vehicle a unique appearance using various effects.
