Skyrim Special Edition doesn't yet have as many mods as the original, but here's a list of the most notable ones.
Skyrim Special Edition has undergone a large number of global changes compared to the base version of the game, but it is still open to modding, like the original, which was released back in 2011. Given that mods and saved games from standard Skyrim are not compatible with the enhanced edition, modders have done their best to adapt their creations to the upcoming changes.
They did it in a fairly short time, and most popular mods are already compatible with the Special Edition. And, most likely, we should soon expect the appearance of new mods developed specifically for the expanded edition.
However, Sky UI and Skyrim Script Extender will not be updated to support the Special Edition and most of the community's favorite modifications are still only partially functional. However, this did not stop me from compiling a list of the best mods currently compatible with Skyrim Special Edition. Many of them can be found on the official Bethesda website or downloaded in the game settings menu, but the description of each mod will include a download link from the Nexus Mods repository.
Since Bethesda did not bother to introduce fixes into Skyrim Special Edition that had long been required to be included in the official version of the game, limiting itself to only improving graphics and performance, all the problems characteristic of the original five years ago remained. In that light, this mod is essential for an optimal gaming experience: this comprehensive collection of hundreds of fixes for bugs, dialogue, items, objects, quests and gameplay elements was compiled by the highly prolific modder Arthmoor.
The patch has been reworked in such a way as to ensure the stability of the expanded edition, while being as compatible as possible with other mods. If you have a couple of extra hours of free time, then this is just enough to read the list of changes made from beginning to end.
This mod, created by elderscrolliangamer, modifies and expands Skyrim's opening sequences, restoring dialogue that Bethesda decided to cut but leave in the game files. Thanks to this restoration, you will learn more about the game's environment, listen to and watch all additional conversations in full sequence that were skipped before the game's release. Additionally, if you decide to join the Stormcloaks, you will have the opportunity to escape Helgen with Ulfric at your side.
With this mod, you will be even more immersed in the world of Skyrim, and not just watch the loading screen and monotonously enter through the gate. Open cities developed by Arthmoor will allow you to feel the atmosphere of Morrowind, they will become part of a huge world. Installing mods never (or almost never) implies cheating or an attempt to deceive the game. Ars Metallica – Smithing Enhancement
At the moment, blacksmithing in the game can only be useful for tanks dressed in heavy armor, who prefer to swing a huge two-handed weapon. If you want to try creating a modification yourself, you can download a free editor (Creation Kit) from Bethesda.net - the same tool that Bethesda used while working on Fallout 4.

In order to get the editor to work you need:
- Go to the root folder with Fallout4 (this is where the Creation Kit should be installed)

Now your editor can open esp/esm files, but in the name of standard items (from Fallout4.esm and all translated DLCs) instead of the normal "10mm" there will be "10-РјРј" and the like.

There is a settlement in Fallout 4 where you can find robots programmed to do gardening. Unlike other settlements, they sow here not on the ground, but on special small plantations located next to each other. This mod allows you to build these plantations on all other settlements. They react to this in different ways, either “Well, who cares anyway?”, or “Yes, damn it, this is exactly what I needed!”
Mods for building settlements and crafting
This mod from user kinggath offers a completely new way to build settlements, introducing into the game a system similar to what we saw in SimCity: you divide your settlement into several districts (residential, commercial, industrial and rural), and the inhabitants build their own houses and warehouses, while also doing housekeeping. Your settlement will grow as NPCs begin to make changes to their homes, without you having to keep track of every little detail like the choice of furniture or the color of the walls.
This is a rotorcraft you can live in. It doesn't technically fly - it's more of a way to quickly move around the map, but you can create landing zones throughout the map and move between them. The living quarters are quite small, and the vertibird's engine needs to be cooled regularly, but it's still a cozy place to live, with a handy crafting bench and powerful turrets for scaring off neighbors.
Place Everywhere allows you to place previously static objects like workbenches anywhere on the map, making the building process much easier. In addition, you can build anywhere - in trees, on the surface of water, and even inside other objects. Red alerts are a thing of the past. The mod requires the Fallout Script Extender utility, which can be found at the end of the list.
Tired of carrying everything you can get your hands on back to your settlement? This mod will help you. Make beacons, take them with you, and when your inventory gets full during your adventures, simply put all the excess in a container and equip it with a beacon for the inhabitants of your settlement to take it. They will stack everything near your workbench, which will save you a lot of time.
Considering that Fallout 4 places a huge emphasis on construction, it's surprising that Bethesda didn't think of something like this themselves. This mod allows you to create villagers right in your workshop. Synthetic inhabitants. Turn off your beacon, because now you can populate your outposts with friendly (or not so friendly) synths created by your own hands.
Building power lines in your village in Fallout 4 has become much easier after the release of a mod by Daedragon. Since you use leaky metal (or wood) walls to build houses, why not run wires through them? This mod greatly simplifies the issue of energy supply by replacing standard power lines with compact wires. They can even be stretched across roofs.
Need to hide for a while from the dead eyes of the local settlers? Basement Living adds 10 self-contained basements and bunkers as your own cozy retreat spaces. It's nice that factions give you a place to live when you join them, but what they offer is usually not something you want to waste your time on. This series of mods turns these faction handouts into much more beautiful and spacious dwellings, with workbenches, a hall, pleasant decorations and plenty of free space. Available for Vault 81, Prydwen, the Railroad, the Castle, and The Institute.
If you are using the Contraptions Workshop DLC for Fallout 4, then you will definitely want to install this mod, which significantly improves the factories in your settlements. It adds a number of logical features, such as conveyor belts that accept any garbage directly from inventory, and return full-fledged items.
There are also new machines, such as a loom for creating bunker clothing and faction outfits, forges for heavy armor, ranged and melee weapons, and a distillery where you can create cola and booze. There is even a machine for processing corpses (including human ones) into meat, bones and skin.
The settlers who come to the call on the radio are usually... boring. Most of them are dressed approximately the same, and sometimes it is difficult to distinguish them from each other unless they each have something special on them. This mod adds over 150 new settlers, so new gardeners and peat cleaners will now look at least a little more individual. And another mod, Don’t Call Me Settler, will also give them unique names.
If you suddenly want to customize or change your character's appearance after you leave your home at the start of Fallout 4, you can now do so through plastic surgery. This mod allows you to perform this action in any of your settlements by simply adding a mirror to your workshop. Place a mirror on any wall and using it allows you to change your appearance.
Looking after your settlement can become quite a tedious task, and even after carefully arranging all your belongings on the shelves, they will likely be knocked over later by a clumsy worker, a companion, or even you. This mod not only makes it easier to place items (loot items can now be moved just like static objects using the workshop menu), but also allows you to lock them in place to avoid falling. Perfect.
The size of your settlement in Fallout 4 is strictly limited, it can only be “so” large, and you can only use “so many” objects. And this is very annoying, especially when you are about to create a huge base, and suddenly you are forced to stop. The Higher Settlement Budget mod fixes this problem, but keep in mind that too many objects can slow down or even crash your game.
Like the previous mod, Homemaker expands your options for working with settlements. It includes two new plants for the garden, more walls and fences, 30 new types of lighting and new containers (ammo boxes and cabinets). You can even find meat bags if you like to store provisions in meat bags, of course. Some people do this.
Graphics and weather improvements
While Fallout 4's appearance is definitely more colorful and less greenish than Fallout 3's, it's still a bit washed out. This ReShade/SweetFX file, after installation, will make the external dynamics of the game brighter. You can check out the images before installing to show that the changes aren't too drastic, but the pop colors are now a little more pronounced.
On the other hand, perhaps you don’t think that the post-apocalypse should look so colorful and bright. Stalker Lighting takes away the colors, making the world harsher, more unforgiving, and darker. It's the end of the world, after all. And now he looks the part.
If you look closely, a lot of the textures in Fallout 4 aren't all that breathtaking, which is especially noticeable if you play through the game carefully instead of racing at top speeds. One modder has been hard at work increasing the detail of terrain textures to make your walk through the wasteland just a little more beautiful.
If you want the nights in Fallout 4 to really look like nights, then you need this mod. Giving you a choice between seven different night settings, it will make your evenings either a little darker or pitch black. Interiors will also become darker at night if they are not well lit by lights. Use it wisely.
This mod makes shell casings visible over long distances (500 meters) during firefights, and delays their disappearance time much longer (an hour). This is a small change, but adds a little realism to the game. After a big fight, the ground should literally be covered in shell casings, and now it will be. It will work well with a mod that makes the duration of the presence of bullet marks longer and visible at greater distances.
On the topic of rain: someone changed the textures of the tiny and barely noticeable drops from Bethesda. The drops are now thicker and shorter, making you feel like you're in a post-apocalyptic rainstorm. The circles on the water from drops were also redone. The comparison is well shown in this video.

This mod intends to be a complete, massive collection of bug fixes for Bethesda RPGs. At the moment, there are already fixes for the placement of objects, sounds, problems with slot items, grids and textures, quests and NPCs, perks and statistics, and many more equally significant improvements. MGS Aiming
DownloadIf you are used to frequently changing the camera mode in Fallout 4, especially while aiming, then this mod will come in handy. It automatically switches from third-person to first-person when you look through the crosshairs - Metal Gear Solid-style. You no longer have to press the desired button or use the mouse wheel; The game will automatically return to normal mode after you finish shooting.
One of the main characteristics of the post-apocalyptic world is complete chaos. So why not make the surroundings look more pleasant? Commonwealth Cleanup allows you to get rid of 130,000 static items, including trash, abandoned cars, mountains of tires, vending machines, air conditioners and other junk that fills locations. At the same time, everything you decide to get rid of can be used as raw materials for crafting.
The intimidation perk is fun to use to subdue enemies, but in the past it was only useful for making enemies raise their hands and stop shooting. This mod gives you new options: you can rob enemies, handcuff them, or simply let them go.

Of course, you can click the mouse to speed up the process, or you can solve the problem once and for all by installing this mod , which allows you to set the speed at which text appears. Personally, I increased it 100 times.

This is logical, but not very convenient in practice - you need to open the Pip-Boy and look for the food you just found. After all, in fact, you should already be holding it in your hands. This mod allows you to immediately eat food found on a table, shelf or floor, skipping the fuss with inventory.
Would you like new companions who won't just walk around you mindlessly? You will not only be able to train animals, but you will also have the opportunity to decorate them with paint or put armor on them. You can always find them using the surveillance chip, delight them with treats and even teach them tricks.

Fallout 4 can be quite creepy at times, especially when you're attacked by ghouls, but it's not horror in the conventional sense. If this upsets you, then use Pilgrim-Dread the Commonwealth. It completely changes the atmosphere of the game: just watch the trailer to see how Fallout 4 turns into a cross between the Stalker series and the movie The Road. Pilgrim uses modified graphics and a weather system, which is a kind of reference to the film “The Witch” (2015) by director Robert Eggers.
If you want to turn Fallout 4 into a harsh one, then this mod will be a real discovery for you. The action here takes place immediately after the nuclear bombings. There are no quests here: your task is simple - you need to survive in deadly conditions. If you don't like opaque sights and the short screen blackout when you want to use them, check out this mod. Now all sights on weapons in the game become transparent. You can either add new sights or change existing ones. You can even customize the appearance of sights in the game itself.
