    1. Body - everything fits perfectly, cold metal is pleasant to the touch. 2. Retina screen - beyond all praise, pixels are almost invisible, color rendering (IPS), aspect ratio 4:3 3. iOS system operation - no reboots, freezes or slowdowns, my friend has a Galaxy Tab, it's quiet horror. 4. There are a lot of applications, they are very high quality, there is no trash like in Google Play. I bought a couple of apps, there are sales and every week there is a good app for free. I got the whole set of must-haves! 5.Autonomy - it works stably for a week, I already take out the charger less and less often. Applications don't drain your battery when you don't close them! You don’t have to turn off Wi-Fi, it won’t work. The fear of being left without charging from the previous Galaxy S2 has disappeared. 6.The camera is not bad, when you don’t have an iPhone at hand - you can take a photo easily and with high quality, built-in editing

A very high-quality screen, I recommend it to people who have poor eyesight - their eyes don’t get tired, it works very smartly and quickly, I bought it a week ago - during this time there was never even a hint of the brakes, there are a lot of high-quality and good applications and games! In a word the price corresponds to the quality

Excellent screen! I purchased a matte protective film to keep the screen intact. IOS is simply gorgeous. As an Iphone owner, I had no problems mastering the system. And everything will be clear to beginners! The performance of the system is at the highest level (everything is smooth, pleasant). Very convenient AppStore (everything is divided into categories and it won’t be difficult to find what you need). There are just a lot of applications, useful programs and games! Many of them are free, and if they are paid, then most of them cost their money. I don’t recommend doing Jail, since the warranty will expire. In general, the price for this device suits me, but I would like a little cheaper :) The battery holds a charge for quite a long time. Under serious loads (Several hours of music, 1-2 movies, surfing and several hours of games) it lasts for one and a half hours -two days. If you torture him to the fullest

Very good screen, one of the best I've seen on a tablet. Bright, clear, contrasting, low glare, excellent colors. Perhaps only the AMOLED on the Galaxy Tab 7.7 feels better, but it has a smaller size and resolution. A very well made item, the assembly is perfect, it works very stably, without brakes or glitches. There are excellent applications that have no analogues on other platforms yet. Personally, I liked the Kiosk, through which you can subscribe and read many very well-designed magazines. The browser works well, loads pages quickly, scrolling and zooming are smooth. Only IE10 is better than it for tablets with powerful Windows 8 processors - Microsoft Surface Pro or Acer W700. But such tablets weigh much more and run on battery power much less.

Super screen, smooth and pleasant operation of all software, sound quality and volume, assembly, and pleasant appearance. Adequate price for a very high quality product.

Screen; - processor, handles heavy games with a bang (slightly faster than the third, quickly and smoothly switches between a bunch of running programs; - gesture control is just super, not to please the Android; - the battery is just a tank, holds 10 claimed hours calmly, with continuous play in swampy lasted 7.5 hours - the battery heats up less than 3 iPads and iPhone 4s in heavy games; - the new lightning port is simply super, can be inserted on either side and finally the connector has become smaller - good sound from the speaker and in headphones (I use it in tandem with hd 518 senheisers)

Simple and at the same time effective smooth operation of the iOC Stunning display High-quality loud sound both in the speaker and in the headphones Long battery life (lasts me for two days) Appstore, a bunch of free applications, and paid applications for next to nothing Fast, really fast

Excellent screen Decent operating time from 1 charge Screen format 4:3, no matter what you say, it’s more convenient for surfing Really fast Works Lots of applications and games optimized specifically for iPad Excellent assembly A large number of accessories Wi-Fi works just great, provides 30-50 Mbit on channel 50100

    1. Tablet weight. The girl has an iPad mini, so you can carry it in your bag every day without thinking about it. I take mine only when I need it, it’s just a bit hard to carry around.

I would really like it to be possible to expand the memory, for example with a flash drive. But I found a way out of the situation - I store almost all the information in cloud storage) Thank God the Internet is almost always nearby

Many people will attribute the lack of 3G to the disadvantages of this particular model. I didn’t want to overpay for it and found a way out. I use my phone as a modem (3G Wi-Fi router) and I’m happy. I installed an unlimited tariff and I have a Wi-Fi hotspot everywhere (well, where the phone naturally catches the network). You can buy a separate portable Wi-Fi router, but why do it if most modern phones have a modem mode.

    1) Of course the tablet is heavy. Well, what did you want? A good “long-lasting” rechargeable battery is not an easy thing.
    2) It gets hot during some complex processes such as viewing a heavy pdf file, etc. Just a little more - and I would call this tablet, based on the temperature sensations in my hand, not “very warm”, but “almost hot”.
    3) If it’s a premium tablet, they could make the sound stereo.
    4) I was surprised to discover that only one browser for iPad provides such a function as text scaling, well, text zoom is only available in Opera, and even then it works crookedly. Apparently this is a drawback of the operating system, because... Even in the pre-installed email program, the text is scaled only “like a picture” in its entirety and to read it you need to use horizontal scrolling, but it should

Weight. Dropped my iPad on the tiles in the bathroom. The tile is cracked. There is only a slight dent on the iPad itself.
This can be considered a plus.

    Closed system, a bit heavy

The tablet is quite heavy and gets noticeably hot during use.
It is not at all suitable for watching video - the screen is not widescreen, there is no support for some codecs, currently DTS. Moreover, the list of codecs and players prohibited by Apple changes all the time, so you can never be sure that you will be able to watch a movie downloaded to your tablet, with the exception of those that you bought in the Apple store.
The process of uploading various content to the tablet - music, documents, books, videos - is very inconvenient. It would take a very long time to describe what exactly is inconvenient, I’m just warning you that problems are practically guaranteed for you.
Much of the software is inferior in quality and functionality to its Android counterparts, but it costs significantly more. This downloads music and video players, FB2 book readers, prog

    1. The battery gets hot - this personally bothers me a little, so when reading, I sometimes use it in an upside-down position.
    2. Of course, paid applications: I don’t mind buying a useful (but in comparison with a computer program much more insignificant in terms of functionality) program for $3, but for $10 it’s clearly too much, and such software is needed for every more or less important everyday manipulation . Of course, you probably shouldn’t have expected more from a tablet; the main advantage here is mobility and compactness.
3.Inconvenience of downloading files; each format again requires its own application. For example: I downloaded the supposedly omnivorous program AVPlayer, but in the process it turns out that it is not so omnivorous and is not suitable for the MKV format (contrary to what was said on http://ipadstory.ru). So the video is coming

In this article we will discuss one of the most important characteristics of the iPad - screen diagonal. This is the most impressive detail of the tablet that immediately catches your eye. During its existence, the Apple company has released many models of this device. And they all come with different display sizes. Let's see how gadgets have changed according to this criterion over the years. Let's start the review with the very first lines - iPad 1, 2 and so on.

A tablet is a type of device whose display diagonal size is of great importance. The first generation, released 7 years ago, already came in a standard version, which took root for many years. The parameter in question did not change for gadgets until the 4th generation, although something new was added in terms of other screen characteristics:

  • iPad 1 had a diagonal of 9.7 inches (in iPad 2 the diagonal was left the same as in iPad 3 and iPad 4), with a resolution of 1024x768, 132 ppi.
  • iPad 2 – the same parameters in inches, exactly the same resolution and pixel density.
  • iPad 3 - 100% higher resolution than the first and second line of devices, the same with pixel density.
  • iPad 4 is all the same as its predecessor.

But regardless of the model, the picture on the display of Apple tablets has always been excellent. But technology is developing continuously and gadgets of the 3 and 4 line received a Retina display .

The four also increased the screen resolution and pixel density parameter. This made it possible to make the image look like a picture from a glossy magazine. Pixels are not visible at all, which adds realism. The developer made the 100% right choice by introducing this technology. Among 10-inch tablets, this device is considered the best. The only drawback is the lack of anti-reflective coating. This disadvantage was noted by many users on the forums.

The IPS matrix element, included in models of lines 1 – 4, produces a color gamut of maximum naturalism and provides maximum viewing angles. Its quality is especially visible when compared with previous display options. The capacitive sensor has also been improved. In addition, a warmer color scheme and improved image detail have been added.

Display sizes of iPad Air, iPad Air 2

The further development of tablets was very interesting. The body has been radically improved, new shades have appeared. The frames were significantly reduced, but the display sizes remained the same (as in the fourth and other iPads).

The more compact dimensions of the iPad Air line of tablets have taken them to a higher level, making them stylish and modern.

Characteristics of displays of Air model devices:

  • iPad Air – 9.7 inches, Retina, resolution 2048×1536, 264 ppi.
  • iPad Air 2 has exactly the same parameters as the first “air” tablet.

As you can see, everything remains the same. Only Retina technology is of interest. Thanks to it, the response period to touching the display and energy consumption have been significantly reduced.

iPad mini, iPad mini 2-4 screen parameters

The time has come to highlight tablets that are close to modern standards of top-end devices. The developer paused a bit with the display sizes and this innovation is for the better.

The mini versions have become widespread and are loved by many users. After all, carrying such a gadget with you is very comfortable, and its functionality is not inferior to ordinary models:

  • iPad mini - 7.9 inches, with a resolution of 1024x768, pixel density 163 ppi.
  • iPad mini 2 - the same diagonal, but the resolution and pixel density have been increased by 100%.
  • iPad mini 3 - exactly the same performance as the second mini variation.
  • iPad mini 4 - exactly the same as versions 2 and 3.

As can be seen from the characteristics presented above, the diagonals of the mini devices are not at all the same as in the 4 iPad and other standard versions. They are much smaller. The resolution setting is similar, but the number of dots is 1 inch larger.

Pro line tablets

In terms of “appearance”, the two variations of the gadget in this line are almost identical. Therefore, users here choose based on functionality, because not everyone needs a TV to carry with them all the time:

  • Pro variation 1 - 9.7 inches, Retina, resolution 2732x2048, 264 ppi.
  • Pro variation 2 – 12.9 inches, other parameters are exactly the same.

Today, these two models are the best, both in terms of picture quality and performance. The latest anti-reflective coating makes working in the sun comfortable.

Above was a historical background regarding the development of tablets from the Apple company in terms of display size. It's interesting how iPads will evolve in the future, but that's anyone's guess. But judging by the performance. For at least another 2-3 years, Pro will be at its best and will satisfy the needs of the most demanding users.

And since the subject of our conversation today is the second line of iPads, let’s take a closer look at the other characteristics of this line of tablets.

iPad 2 design

There has been no revolution since the release of the second generation of devices. Consumers were presented with the same product in a minimalist style, very neat, made of glass and aluminum materials. You may not like Apple devices, but you cannot deny that they are of decent quality. In terms of design, they are several steps ahead of similar gadgets from competitors. Let’s say you can’t put them on the same level as plastic products from Samsung Tab or Motorola XOOM, which consist of individual elements assembled together. If you have any doubts about this, just turn the Apple tablet in your hands and immediately feel the difference.

The rear part remained the same “indestructible”. It is made of scratch-resistant metal. The panel has now become almost flat - it narrows only towards the end part. The first line of tablets did not have this.

The Deuce is significantly thinner than its predecessor (and even the iPhone 4). Visually it seems that you can even scratch it, like a piece of paper. This effect is created thanks to the same narrowing towards the ends. In it, the developer used the same design idea as in the MacBook Air, in which the minimum thickness parameters are only 3 millimeters.

The tablet also lost a little weight. True, only 6 grams compared to its predecessors, but still this is a positive result. However, at that time, according to this criterion, the iPad 2 was ahead of its competitor from the Korean company - Galaxy, which weighed 7 grams less. At the same time, its body was made of plastic, which does not add to its price.

iPad 2 equipment

Everything here is standard and predictable, nothing new. In the box with the second tablet, in addition to the device itself, the user found:

  • charging element;
  • USB cord;
  • documentation;
  • brochures and stickers with Apple logos.

The Apple company, as always, has not betrayed the principles of minimalism. The rather large box did not contain anything notable accessories. By the way, the adapter is for an American outlet. So, whether you like it or not, you will have to purchase an adapter.

Battery for the second tablet

The period of operation without additional recharging of devices of the second line is the same 10-12 hours. The same was true for the starter product of this type. And this is all during active use using wireless elements, while watching movies and listening to music tracks.

All this is impressive, considering that we are talking about a device with a nine-cell battery. According to these criteria, Apple's tablet has no competitors to this day. Similar gadgets from other companies operating on Android work for about 6 hours without recharging. It is especially pleasing that a long period of autonomous operation was preserved with a significant reduction in the thickness of the case.

And a little more about the display...

This element was already the pride of the company in the very first tablet. At that time it was of the best quality - competitors had nothing like it. In the second generation tablet everything remains the same. Many fans of Apple products expected to see Retina technology in it, that is, a resolution increased by 400%. But for such parameters, the device did not have enough processor power and graphics element. In other words, a miracle did not happen. And if it happened, the starting price of the gadget would soar by at least 50%.

But this display has also become one of the best in terms of brightness, resolution and responsiveness to touch. It is not for nothing that any devices with a touch mechanism are usually compared with iPhones and iPads, because the latter have no equal.

However, there are also more significant distinctive points compared to the previous version and competitors. For example, thanks to the oleophobic layer, the display is not easily soiled. It is very difficult to stain it with touches. And if any dirt suddenly appears, it is easy to remove. Users have to clean the devices of the first line and tablets of competitors constantly.

Efficiency has increased in many areas - when surfing the Internet, when working with graphic elements. Separately, it is worth mentioning the increase in memory on board the second tablet to 512 megabytes. Of course, today such an indicator will seem ridiculous, but at that time it caused delight.

The operating system in this line of tablets, compared to the previous one, was also more advanced. She was an order of magnitude taller. Accordingly, the functionality has expanded, and the work has become faster.

The tablet performs all commands perfectly. This applies to the interface, a fast browser, no freezing or slowdown of programs, and lively playing video.

Apple has also released the older model of the fourth generation iPad. It happened so quickly that many fans did not even have time to notice the appearance of the new item. Typically, Apple devices are updated about once a year, while setting the bar so high that competitors begin to reach it only at the end of the year. And then the third and fourth generation models were immediately presented in the same year.

Actually, the iPad 4, unlike the iPhone, did not receive revolutionary changes in characteristics: an updated front camera, a new graphics chip, a dual-core A6 processor like the iPhone 5, an excellent display, which is one of the best on the market, and a “long-lived” battery - that’s main criteria of the new model.

Of course, there were some disadvantages typical for this company: iPad 4 received only one port, the camera’s photo/video quality is not the best, the inability to expand memory using SD cards and the need to overpay for the brand.

iPad 4 can be purchased in white and black versions, but note that 4th generation models are available labeled A1458 (standard), A1459 (Wi-Fi + Cellular) and A1460 (Wi-Fi + Cellular MM). All models are supplied to the market with memory capacities of 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB; installation of memory cards, as stated above, is impossible.

In general, summing up the brief review of the iPad 4, we can confidently say that the new product turned out to be quite productive, although without any special differences from the previous generation. The new device is primarily aimed at those users who want to purchase a tablet with the prospect of long-term use. Now let’s look at the main technical characteristics of the tablet and look at its photos.

Materials and design

You shouldn't expect any special innovations in design - there simply aren't any. It is about the same different from the iPad 3, just as it was different from the iPad 2. The body is made of the same aluminum alloy, and the screen is covered with glass, which perfectly protects from scratches. Instead of the usual 30-pin connector, the new generation received a Lightining connector. The iPad 4 A1460 remains the standard of quality and design. There is nothing more to say about the appearance of the device. Below are a couple of photos of the new device.

Display

The device received a 9.7-inch display with a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels, a glossy finish and an IPS matrix. Despite the fact that there are now quite a lot of tablets on the market with good displays, the display of the iPad 4 A1460 can rightfully be considered one of the best. It also uses Retina, which can be seen on the third generation iPad. The device has a fairly high pixel density per inch - 264 (at the time of release, only the Nexus 7 was higher).

The tablet's touch is quite reliable; when operating the screen with your fingers, there are practically no fingerprints left, and it is quite difficult to scratch it. It is important that the iPad 4 A1460 has almost maximum viewing angles, which allows you to show the picture on the screen to several users at once. The tests carried out showed that the tablet has a maximum brightness of 337 cd/m2, and its distribution was below average - 84%. The device also has a good average contrast ratio of 817:1.

The photo cannot convey all the dynamics of the image, but still. To ensure the high quality of the display, we recommend that you simply examine it in the store. It’s better to see him in person than to read about him or look at photos on the Internet.

Performance

If the exterior of the device has undergone only minor changes, then the filling can really boast of updated characteristics. The new iPad 4 A1460 received a dual-core Apple A6X processor running at 1.4 GHz on a new 32 nm chip. A new PowerVR SGX 554MP4 graphics chip with four cores was also installed. It’s simply impossible to say that the model turned out to be slow, because it demonstrates itself perfectly in synthetic tests and in daily use: there are no glitches during operation, the device interface works smoothly and without distortion.

If you take a more detailed look at the computer tests, everything is great here: the Geekbench benchmark received 1783 points, which is one of the best indicators; SunSpider achieved a performance level of 903 milliseconds; T-Rex HD Onscreen C24Z16 showed a result of 12 fps, which is also one of the best indicators.

Despite the fact that quite a lot of time has passed since the release of the device, the iPad 4 is still one of the most productive tablets in its segment. If you are not chasing cores, RAM and other technical characteristics, then this tablet will still be relevant for you for many years.

Compared to the old model, the new one loads a little faster, launches heavy games a little faster, and when using a browser, the differences will be very difficult to notice. Simply put, it will be very difficult, even almost impossible, to experience a really noticeable difference in performance in two devices.

Although, while the iPad 4 received 1783 points in the Geekbench benchmark, the previous model, the iPad 3, received only 749 points. This kind of hints to you that synthetic tests are just synthetic tests that cannot correctly reflect the real performance of the device. Therefore, if you see a photo somewhere on the Internet with graphs and test data indicators for a device, you should not turn away from it simply because it has a small number of points.

Autonomy

Tablets with Retina display are great, but have a serious drawback - they take about 7 hours to charge. This is quite a lot, so when the new iPad 4 comes out, you can find in the package not a W10 charger, as was the case in previous models, but a more powerful W12. In practice, this shows that the charging time will decrease at least a little (to about 6 hours, maybe even less).

The results of the device’s battery life are truly impressive: the tablet has a battery capacity of 11,560 mAh, which is 70% more than that of the iPad 2. There is no need to worry that the tablet will suddenly run out of charge unplanned, because with an average load of the tablet it will last for about 2 days. If the tablet is used to a minimum, then in this case it will be able to stay “alive” for about 7 days.

Camera

This element has also undergone changes, but the front camera has been updated, not the rear main one. The front camera received a 1.2-megapixel module with HD resolution, which makes images (photos and videos) slightly better compared to the previous model. The main iSight camera is a 5-megapixel module, similar to the iPhone 4, but the camera has an additional flash like the iPhone 4S.

We can say that this is a kind of intermediate option. If we compare the main camera with cheap point-and-shoot cameras, it will clearly be inferior to them, but still the photos and videos are of quite high quality. When shooting, photos come out unblurred, and the camera also has normal focusing. The camera's video module allows you to record in 1080p resolution, just like a third-generation tablet. In general, it’s good for taking selfie photos.

Results

If the third generation of the iPad tablet at the beginning of 2012 was considered truly revolutionary, then what is worth talking about the fourth generation iPad, which came out at the end of the same year. The device received updates mainly in the form of internal characteristics and a new Lightining interface connector. Synthetic tests show a significant gap from the previous generation, but reality shows that the third generation of devices is only slightly inferior in performance and speed.

If you are tormented by the choice: to change the third generation tablet to a slightly updated fourth generation, then we want to say that it simply does not make sense, unless you need to switch to the new Lightining connector. You can take photos, play demanding games and surf comfortably in the browser - you can do just fine on the third generation model. But the choice, of course, is yours.

iPad4 video review

In the small town of San Jose, California, with a population of just under a million people, on October 23, 2012, a presentation of Apple took place, at which the world was presented with new mobile devices, including new tablets: and iPad 4. Of course, the new Mini lineup has gotten the most attention, which is why some didn't even notice the arrival of the larger 4th generation iPad.

On the official Apple website, the fourth generation tablet was called “ iPad with Retina display", Californians for some reason avoid the simple and sonorous name iPad 4. A similar situation was with its predecessor, which was called " The New iPad" Along with the release of the fourth generation Apple tablet, the third iPad dropped out of the Apple Store, and sales of the iPad 2 continue. Let's not delve into the specifics of the work of Apple marketers and move directly to the review of the fourth iPad.

Characteristics of iPad 4 and differences from iPad 3
The first thing you pay attention to when getting acquainted with the new product is the hardware. Appearance, of course, also matters a lot, but in the case of Apple tablets, the design differences are minor. And if we talk about the difference between the third and fourth iPad, then there is simply none, not counting the new Lightning connector, which was first used in. The new interface is nothing more than a replacement for the usual 30-pin connector for charging the device, connecting accessories and synchronizing with a PC. The latest iPod Touch and iPad Mini also received it.

The author of the book “Insanely Simple” about the success story of Apple, Ken Segall, wrote in one of his articles that sending the 30-pin connector into retirement was necessary not only for brand owners, but also for consumers. In his opinion, it is not advisable to sell devices with an outdated interface on the eve of the Christmas holidays. An adapter from a 30-pin connector to the new Lightning is available in the Apple store for $30.

Now let's take a look at the key differences between the iPad 3 and iPad 4 (for ease of understanding, we'll call them that). The fourth iPad received a more powerful dual-core Apple A6X processor, whose frequency is 1.4 GHz. The graphics accelerator, in turn, contains 4 cores and has a performance of 76 GFLOPS.

The next difference, as you probably already guessed, is the use of a new Lightning connector. The 4G module has also undergone modernization - it has received expanded support for LTE, which will increase the speed of Internet access via a cellular network. Unfortunately, networks of this kind are not available everywhere; in the countries of Eastern Europe, for example, they are known only by hearsay. For some reason they did not equip the 4th generation of “large” tablets with new ones, leaving support for standard cards. Unlike its predecessor, the new 4th generation iPad comes with Apple iOS 6.0.1 pre-installed.

Speaking about the new Apple A6X processor, I would like to note that it has introduced hardware image processing technology - this will speed up the operation of the built-in camera (its resolution is 5 megapixels) and improve the quality of pictures. The front iSight camera in the fourth iPad has a resolution of 1.2 MP – it can now shoot 720p video.

The Wi-Fi module now supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, which will improve compatibility with new router models.

In other respects, the iPad 4 literally copies its predecessor: it has the same Retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, a glass and aluminum body with a black or white frame around the display, the built-in storage capacity is 16, 32 and 64Gb. There is still no option to expand the internal memory. The dimensions and weight of the 4th iPad (652 g) exactly match the parameters of the 3rd generation tablet: 241.2 x 185.7 x 9.4 mm.

Competitors
Witty observers call the latest updates to Apple's lines not revolutionary, but evolutionary. It’s hard to disagree with them, since Californians’ new products are only gradually being improved and are perceived quite calmly.

iPad 4 was no exception. It has an excellent display, high-quality execution and powerful hardware that far exceeds the needs of a typical consumer. However, it does not contain anything revolutionary; moreover, the main competitor, Google, recently introduced its Nexus 10 tablet, the display resolution of which is 2560 x 1600 pixels, which is slightly higher than that of the iPad 3 and 4.

iPad 4 prices
Regarding the cost, it remained at the level of the third iPad: $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi version, $599 for the 32 GB Wi-Fi version and $699 for the 64 GB Wi-Fi version. Prices for models with 4G LTE are as follows: $629, $729 and $829 for 16, 32 and 64GB versions, respectively.
